Two damage decks confirmed

By MaverickNZ, in Star Wars: Armada

From the Armada tournament rules today:

DAMAGE CARDS
When a player’s ship suffers a damage card, the card is taken from that
player’s own damage deck. Players must maintain their own discard piles
for their damage cards. Before shuffling at the start of a game, players may
request to examine their opponent’s damage deck to validate its contents.

A judge may check damage decks at any time

So for those wanting to get friends into the game, a second core could be a good buy. Of course for a small friendly game you could share one, but once wave 1 comes out and people start playing at 400 points I think you will really need one deck each.

Or a scanner, cardstock, and scissors for friends.

I don't see why players wouldn't have their own starter, but that's just me.

Those going to Tournaments will not be casual players borrowing models and supplies from a friend, they will have their own collection.

He's talking about trying to induce friends to get into the game. The core set has ships for two opposing 180 point fleets, but only one deck for a player. In fact, the core set is short of a die for X-Wings I believe - or somethign somewhere I read similar to that.

But the rule he quoted is for Tournaments only. In casual games teaching a friend use what you have.

If you're just teaching friends to play use the same deck. This only matters for tournament play.

Yes, but if you are teaching friends and want to play 400 point games - you are probably going to need 2 decks.

I regularly have mates around who enjoy playing X-Wing and we play 200 odd point battles sometimes, but they don't want to/cant afford to "buy in" so I got 2 cores.

Whoa, no need to judge 'em like Solomon now...

;)

From the OP - I said because of friendly games being a large size as a reason to also need 2 decks (besides tournament play)

Well that is a different situation than the OP. If you need more than one deck becuase of the number of ships you bring then yes. But the OP is about tournament play needing your own damage deck which is the same as X-Wing and that has never been an issue.
