Heads up, Tournament rules just hit the news feed: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2015/3/26/let-the-battles-begin/

Edit:

Details of interest:

-The game officially releases tomorrow.

-Tournaments are 180 points until wave 1, 300 after wave 1, 400 after wave 2.

-Seem like there will still be official spring events judging by the last line.

hmmm. Its a 400 point game.

Wave 1 is a 2 hour game limit, Wave 2 is a 2.5 hour game limit. Its really designed to be a 400 point game.

I suspect that its a 400 point game to allow the inclusion of the ISD and Mon Cal ships which would undoubetly cost a lot of points. My Wave 1 purchases will be based for a 400 point game. I have always learned that such games on the tabletop, or even in console/computer game usually gives the advantages to the the player with the most agility, so I probably will shy away from large ships. However - FFG is not stupid. They will probably include some awesome fleet upgrades withthe commander cards with the Large ships. Whether your play them or not, I am sure they will be designed that you will certaily want to buy them for their cards at minimum.

The 400 point part is my biggest takeaway - and it's absolutely making me take another look at my planned wave 1 purchases.

Interesting! a 33% Increase in points availability from our information up till now.

I like it.

3 VSDs will now have adequate fighter cover (once Wave 2 hits, and in friendly games prior to then)

The 400 point change is making me not regret getting two cores at all. Not at all. I'm now curious how well three Vic-IIs will do.

Also that's what, 8 CR-90s?

Going to have to agree that I am hugely excited for the new list potential with 400 points. We'll have a lot of rethinking to do, but there's also going to be this awkward few months between the waves where we're playing with 300 points but craving 400 instead :)

One of the clarifications I found is that each person will need their own damage deck, so that's finally cleared up. Other than that nothing too unusual, although I'm surprised that estimating is still good enough when it comes to moving ships and there are squadrons or ships in the way. Any thoughts on if this is intended to allow ships to move "through" other ships without penalty? I understand there are consequences for ending a move overlapping a ships, but after rereading the rules I can't find anything about a move being obstructed for moving through a ship, only if the ships would stop their movement and still overlap.

That unfortunately throws off the neat 1/3 of your list is fighters math. Before it was 100 pnts (300/3), In wave 2 it will be 133.3333333 ext. points (400/3).

400p lists will allow for more diverse lists in tournament play. This is great news IMO. I think I'll pick up an Assault Frigate MK II when wave 1 launches now :)

****, now I can't wait till Wave 2, lol.
