Both my neb b are missing any paint on the engine area. I plan to put a wash on them this weekend and paint the TIE fighters.
Low quality of Nebulon B paintjob
We shouldn't have to paint "pre-painted" miniatures as customers. It's great that some people can paint or wash these but I would guess most want them painted from the factory. I'm convinced there's a real issue here and I know that FFG never posts to the forums but it's time guys.
Don't bother me. Will only take a few mins. Besides it's just a rebel scum ship.... lol
Just got my core sets. Both with same issue. And **** the CR90 is tiny.
Edited by VaultDwellerMy Neb B does have some wash on the engine area but it is still very light versus the spine of the ship.
My Nebulon B also looks unpainted. Particularly next to the Victory or the Corvette.
You've basically paid someone for a painted miniature, sure it's a small percentage compared to the volume of stuff coming in the starter box... but there's only 3 painted models, and half-ish of one of them isn't painted... May not seem like a problem with the core set, but if it happens on the Wave1 neb blister? Like many of you, I may end up washing the model. Honestly my bigger concern after hearing from others unboxing is now broken minis. Still has anyone contacted FFG about the paint job (or broken minis)? What is/should their response be?
We picked up two starter boxes and both the Nebulon Bs are unpainted on the ends
My Nebs look unwashed on the engine block as well.
Did anybody else think the cards (dmg deck, ships, objectives) appear printed "low quality". I can see the textured grid on the fronts and backs off all the cards. They catch glares remarkably well...
I dig the game though.
Still way better paint job then what was on the fighters.
1 additional color could have helped out here. ![]()
See for yourself, i myself am very disapointed. This is not what offical product photos show when you hand out the cash.
Last posts in this thread have pictures for comprasion, offcial product picture, gencon photos and the real model.
It looks like cheap chinese knockoff next to what we were shown earlier.
I hope the paint quality will improve with Wave 1 as it did with x-wing where core set models werent top notch either.
Interesting about the 'cheap chinese knockoff' comment. I thought Armada miniatures were produced in China? ![]()
...on that token though, I think I understand what you truly mean by that comment. Quality that one would usually expect from some sort of bootleg production. ![]()
I think everyone here does have a vaild point. We were shown one thing but delivered another thing. It is to some degree dishonest. I think it is doubly-worse for those of us who have absolutely no painting skills whatsoever to try and remedy the issue. ![]()
I've had to do about 10 minutes of wash work to correct the look of both the Corvette and the Nebulon-B. In addition to having the issues above, the Corvette has red bleeding into some of the white sections in an unattractive way (nobody will see unless closely examining, but still, ****!) annnnd the Neb-B has a very slight cock to the right when viewed from behind, off center.
I'm not happy, Fantasy Flight Games. I just paid over $100 of my hard earned money for your product and I've been -extremely- happy with the paint jobs on my X-Wing Miniatures and this is what I get? After months of waiting and patiently anticipating the game? After previews of ships that look immaculate and articulate? >:C
I myself didn't have any broken mini's at all. I'm sure FFG will replace any broken. I've always had great service with them in this regard. Once you put s simple grey wash on the neb B engine area it looks just as good as the gencon ship. Clearly some worker missed the memo that day on putting a wash on that particular part.
My Nebulon B has a very noticeable bend where the engine section isn't glued into the main body of the ship perfectly straight. Filled in a Support Request along with a photograph and they're seemingly happy to send me a new one free of charge all the way to UK.
Can't ask for more than that :-)

Could you post pictures please? My armada will arrive after easter so i will buy a wash beforehand and maby trian a bit on some old miniatures from my youth.
Sadly I don't have a good camera! All I did was add two drops of concentrated black paint to seven drops of water. I use Citadel Abadon Black- while the wash will look dark when you first apply it, after waiting for it to dry you can just add more. Easy as pie, my friend. :3

Thanks, citadel also makes ready to use washes right?
It sounds like for everybody it's on the engine block of the Neb-B. Sounds less like a mistake and more like a poorly made decision. Somebody in design probably though it looked better that way while using a fancy illustration program and didn't take into account the mass produced version's final look. Less an act of incompetence than a simple decision that went south. They'll fix it.
I know it doesn't change things for people but at least that would mean it isn't FFG slacking, just a misjudgment.

Somone in other thread found a Nebulon with a proper wash on the rear section, he also mentioned that that other ones he saw wasnt as bad as those posted here.
Mine is also pretty good, as are the others at my FLGS. Sounds like different batches to me.
I have 2 core sets. One unopened. The other I have opened and played with. Both have a white rear section on the Nebulon B. You can see a very very very slight wash in some of the cracks on the top.
The front of mine is also missing a wash on the top.
Yeah the QC on the Neb B's is pretty lacking. Mine resembles Rowdy's, my buddies looks like the whole thing was not washed.
Still better then opening day X-wings. Easy to fix.
Someone reported in another thread they had a slightly bent neb-b (through the narrow mid section). They contacted FFG and they're sending a replacement, just like that. Anyone contact FFG about the unpainted neb-b?
Went to the game store yesterday and took a look at over 30 different starter boxes. In that group about 1/4 to 1/3 had noticeably lighter back sections on the frigate. It wasn't like some were skipped and the other were fine, instead they ranged in shading from almost none to faint to ok. The front sections all looked fine (I couldn't see the tops). It wasn't just the Nebs but the blockade runner and star destroyer all varied in the darkness of the shading as well, although none were as light as those Neb's rear end.
However, if you took on step to the left you'd be in the X-Wing section where models looked indistinguishable from each other.
About two months ago, at a local Barnes & Noble, they had three TIE Bombers; one was noticeably more blue than the other two. And even those two were very slightly more blue than the other Imperial fighters they had.
