Low quality of Nebulon B paintjob

By Microscop, in Star Wars: Armada

See for yourself, i myself am very disapointed. This is not what offical product photos show when you hand out the cash.

Last posts in this thread have pictures for comprasion, offcial product picture, gencon photos and the real model.

It looks like cheap chinese knockoff next to what we were shown earlier.

I hope the paint quality will improve with Wave 1 as it did with x-wing where core set models werent top notch either.

Looks like the model slipped through QC... or the guy who was supposed to paint the back end of the model didn't show up to work that day.

I hope you're right. The Nebulon-B is the ship I'm most looking forward to getting my hands on so I'm hoping for a good model.

Probably just a mistake on the first print run of the core set. I doubt they'll make the same mistake with the expansion so you can always get that when wave 1 hits.

I'd contact support about it. It's not like you disagree with the paintjob or anything, it just wasn't even painted! Is it to much to ask that a miniature marked as being "pre-painted" actually show up 100% painted?

He got his set on "demo" day. So, no one, or even that owner can be sure if the set hhe got was just a "demo" set.

Seems like enough people have it in hand now. Anyone else seeing discrepancies in the paint job?

It's definitely not as nice as the advertisements you see out there. However, you can see it right through the plastic in the box. I guess if you order online you'd never see it before you got it.

My corvette doesn't look nearly as nice as the one shown on the website either.

I amnoticing it too. It looked like all the Nebs had that problem at the store I was at today and they had A LOT in stock. Looking closly at the paint job, its just missing a black wash. If you set two copies of each model side by side, you will notice they look different because of how the washes dried on them. Looks like an easy fix. Many gaming stores have paint sections that offer ready made washes.

Of course, having said that, it shouldnt need to be any kind of fix at all.

Will I be upset if the ships aren't well painted? Sure. But I'm not sure that's going to stop me from buying/playing the game. Still, if it looks like parts of the ship weren't even painted/washed... I guess that's a crossroads. I can paint and wash just fine (I'll have to do that with the fighters, anyways), but I'm not buying a set of unpainted ships. I guess I'll know when I see it.

When you buy it at physical shop you see what you get but when you are ordering online you are tricked with those photoshoped/cgi? beuty shots. This seems like false advertising to me.

X-wing models on the contary actually look pretty great for prepainted ones and their price is good too. Details and shading/washes are really well done, MIllenium Falcon which can be compared with Armada ships have alot of details nad really sharp and detaield paintjob.

Gencon models had amazing paintjob, i love Nebs and i was eagerly waiting not only to play with them but also to displey them on my shelf. Ofcourse wash will help, especially on the rear engine section but its still disapointing. I am considering waiting with my purchuse untill wave1 hits.

If we start seeing more reports and pictures of this FFG owes it to their customers to respond to the issue.

Well as a Miniature game player I have tons of paints and washes to make any fixes. In fact I already touch up my X-Wing models.

Also when X-Wing first came out the paint quality was so so but that changed by the second and third printing. It is most likely the same issue here.

I can already say that its probably a general problem with all the core sets. We ve seen pictures and videos from few difreant persons already showing it.

Samething happened when X-Wing was first released. I got in early but the difference is we had nothing to compare it to so we didn't realize that it was going to improve till the first wave came out then the second printing of the first wave got even better.

Report any Bad issues but keep in mind this is something that happens and it will most likely be addressed as time goes on.

I'm the same way, I'll just fix them myself. But I can't fault anyone for being aggrivated with the difference between what was shown and what you get. Even with X-wing, there always seemed to be issues with light/white colored ships.

I found 2 unboxing videos with ship closeups

Corvette looks pretty good here, you can notice some shading and highlating.

Neb looks fine excpeting the rear which needs dark gray and black wash.

Yeah, no issue with my Core set paintjobs. Everything looks as it should. Perhaps you have been handling the corvette too much and wore the paint off :)

Could you post some pictures so we can compare?

I took a look at our core sets at my FLGS... many of the Nebulons were missing wash on the engine housing.

It's nothing a wash can't handle honestly. Get some black paint, dilute it with water, and run it over the block. Done.

If it just needs a wash, I'm totally cool.

If it is missing ENTIRE sections of white or coloured paint, then I have a serious problem. :|

The back end just needs a wash...shame really, as the appeal of X-Wing and Armada to many people was that the prepainted mini quality was so high!

I'll be doing my Rebel fleet to match my X-Wing colours... :)

Everyone with this problem should be contacting FFG support, even if you plan to fix it yourself. They need to know how extensive this is so they can provent it in future releases.

Opening my box right now... both Rebel ships need a wash to match the detailing on the front of the Neb-B (which looks pretty good!) I'm somewhat saddened, but it won't kill me.
