A wing with PTL and expert handling

By Chefsteve65, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Does the A wing get double stressed if it uses PLT and expert handling in the same turn?

Yes.

Yes,

But you have to take Expert Handling as your first action and use the Barrel Roll action it gives you as the trigger action for PtL. At which point you'll get a 2nd stress when you finish the free action from PtL.

Actually you get the 1st stress from PTL and the 2nd stress from EH.

True, that would be the correct order for stress.

As VanorDM said, you need to use ExpertHandling as your first action, since PtL cannot be used to trigger an action from an upgrade card with the "Action:" header (it can only trigger actions from your action bar).

Therefore, the sequence during your "Perform Action" step is the following:

  1. Use action: Expert Handling
    1. Perform free Barrel Roll Action
      1. Trigger Push the Limit off the Barrel Roll Action
        1. Perform 1 free action shown in your action bar (eg: Focus)
        2. Receive 1 stress token
      2. Push the Limit is done resolving
    2. If you do not have the action icon, receive 1 stress token
    3. Remove 1 TL from your ship
  2. Expert Handling is done resolving

If you take Expert Handling and Experimental Interface, you can take the Expert Handling Barrel Roll in any order you want. I would only suggest that on Tycho though, with that combo you are taking on 3 stress.

Of course you could just take Jake and roll whenever you want by taking the focus when you want, and only end up with the PTL stress.

Thank you for all the replies. I have been playing my green pilot wrong. A wings really need a B-roll to get out of the BBBBZ's arc.
