Asteroid base on Kickstarter
My only problem with it is the "supplied unpainted" part.
The £20 = $30 minimum shipping to the US is a little steep, too, but part of the appeal of X-wing minis is that I don't have to learn how to paint to have great models.
True but fortunately I have two buddies who paint at competition level so that's me settled ;-)
Something I've thought about for a base like this:
Take the huge ship energy mechanics, and instead of the trade-off being between speed and energy, it would be between shields and energy. You'd get to add (say) up to 6 shield tokens per turn, but doing so would leave you with 0 energy for guns, etc. I'd let the base add shields uncapped. And create crits that cut into energy production.
Bingo - that's what I'm planning. I'll switch out the turrets for something more Star Wars-y though.

I would consider it, if it was painted.
I'd be up for backing this. I'd love to paint it myself, give it that personal feel. But I don't play enough to have games with props.
So I'd end up sitting on the floor of my office playing with it and my minis.
Just got a message from the guy and hw plans to add more goodies like other turrets. Ace!
