Wave one plans?

By Grobb, in Star Wars: Armada

I'm really intrigued to hear what people are thinking about grabbing from wave one to start with...

For me I suspect I am grabbing one of everything and TWO of each fighter pack, because I am not convinced that just two of each special fighter type is going to cut it...

Interested by the opinions of people who know better than me please!

Right now I am waiting on 2 more VSDs, 2 GSDs, 1 CR90, 1 Nebulon-B, one MKII, and one each of the fighter packs. That's going to be enough for me for now, but I will eventually get 2 more fighter packs, another GSD, MK II and CR90, but that's just because I want more ships.

I think what I have is a good start. I think you are right though on 2 fighter backs for each side. If I can eek out some more capital before release I may do that. It's always good to have more fighter options.

I need to run some lists to see how practicle only 1 gsd is.. and whether I want to keep my two preordered cores or shift one on...I am still prone to think one core is enough, but the extra cr90 and fighters MIGHT be useful?

My plans for wave 1? I'm getting it. Well make that 2 GSD and wave 1.

I figured my order gives me good flexability in list building to start. That is what I was going for when I ordered.

I have a Nebulon B and rebel fighter pack on pre-order. When wave one releases coolstuffinc should contact me and ask if I want to add anything else. I love doing business with them.

I do have the Imperial fighters on pre-order. (Remember when they were on The Boat, before they weren't?)

I'll probably get the separate VSD and a GSD, and maybe a second pack of fighters, depending on how effective fighter combat appears to be.

I like options and plan larger-scale engagements so I ordered:

VICTORY CLASS 2

GLADIATOR CLASS 3

CR90 3

NEBULON-B 3

ASSAULT FRIGATE MK11 2

REBEL FIGHTER SQUADRON 3

IMPERIAL FIGHTER SQUADRON 3

i ordered one of each and am also thinking about getting a 2nd fighter pack each. I think wave 2 and the limit of only 1/3 of your fleet points for fighters should also be considered. Would be not so nice if you realize in wave 2 that you have way to many wave 1 ships that you actually cant use anymore. From a "not my money but i want the game to be a success" standpoint i can only propose to buy as much as you can afford and some more.

I ordered the base game + 1 of every ship in Wave 1 but two Gladiator Star Destroyers. I may get another of each ship pack down the road not sure yet.

My Wave 1 plans = Yes.

One of everything at first, and then more later.

For my wave one rebel fleet i will be getting 2 Assult frigates, and 2 fighters packs. I think that the assult frigates are better then the VSD and having stronger squadrons to support them will make a stronge fleet list.

Is Wave one available yet (FFG still lists them as 'on a boat')? With the delayed release of the Core set I thought that maybe they were released at the same time.

We're looking at a probable April/May time frame for Wave 1.

I'm intending to get 2 Gladiators, maybe a VSD to get the upgrade cards from that if I feel they are irrelevant. Probably one each of all the Rebel stuff, and fighter packs for each.

Of course this will all depend on how units actually play out, since I feel like I may wind up getting multiple Interceptors eventually.

  • 1-2 GSDs (depending on details re: ISDs/Wave 2)
  • 1 Imp Fighters

  • 1 Rebel fighters
  • Either an extra CR90 or a Neb-B. (leaning toward the Neb-B, Rebel's strength is their fighters. Supporting them is key)

Until more interesting ships for Rebel's come out, I don't really see myself playing them much. NEED GUNSHIPS AND MC80s.

I ordered one of everything to get things started. :D That way I can test run some battles to determine what ships and squadrons I enjoy the most.

However, I foresee needing >1 of the following:

Rebel Squadrons

Imperial Squadrons

Corvette(s)

I currently plan to cannibalize the Rebel and Imperial fleets to make "3rd Faction" fleets, such as pirates, planetary defense forces, and splinter factions. I want to create some scenarios that pit the standard Rebel and Imperial fleets against combinations of the two. For that additional fighters and small capital ships are needed. The Wave 2 Rogues and Villains pack will assist greatly in this regard.

In addition, for standard play, I can estimate that having only 2 each of Interceptors, Bombers, A-Wings, and B-Wings may not be enough, especially if you want to throw some curves at an opponent.

I have 2 cores, so I will probably go:

1xVSD

2xImp Fighters

2xGladiator

2xAssault Frigate

2xCR-90

1xNeb B

2xRebel Fighters

I might go 1 more Neb B or Gladiator, but I think I'll have a good start from there.

ordered 1 of each...until i play more, i won't know what i want..

I've got the rebel ships from two starters. I also plan to get 3 Assault Frigate IIs, 3 more Nebulon-Bs, and two more CR90s.

Well I've got the starter box set. I'm looking at another Victory class Star Destroyer and a fighter pack for the Imperial fleet. For the Rebels I've got an Assault frigate, another Corellian Corvette and a fighter pack. I've not decided on which direction I want to take my fleets yet. I certainly want a real mix of ships when it comes to the Rebellion so I want to be fielding an Assault Frigate, a Nebulon B, a CR-90 Corvette and a selection of different starfighters as quickly as I can do.

I'm on a tight budget ATM, so swapping my Imp stuff from core set with a friend's Rebel stuff from his set. I'll be buying the fighter pack too. That's probably it for now but gives me enough to build a variety of fleets and will be using proxies for cards I don't have. I'm more excited by Wave 2 (I love the Mon Cal designs) so will hopefully be getting those when they're released.

1 vic 2 assult frigates and 2 packs of each fighter

Looks like my Gladiator's shipping today from chaos cards, at least according to the order dispatched e-mail and half of the order status page. Of course, the order status page says both "dispatched" and "waiting for stock" so who knows? Though I've never had a faulty order dispatched notice from them before, so I'll update later in the week whether it arrives or not.

I think I might well end up using Gladiators more than Victories, despite the Victory being my favourite Star Destroyer design.
