I'm I the only one getting tired of the extras on the minis? The AT-STs have huge side cannons that are cartoonish. I mean really, where are these supposed to have come from? This game takes place shortly after blowing up the first Death Star, At-STs were prototyped at Hoth. There were no huge side cannons. This rant brought to you by the giant antennas on my new rebel troopers.
Annoying extras
Both the guns on the AT-ST and the antenna on the trooper helmet were in the movies however both were smaller than what is represented in the models. I understand why the antenna is larger since the size of the antenna wouldn't be possible to scale to the correct size on the miniature. The guns on the AT-ST could have been smaller but if you look at stills from the movies they are on the AT-STs on both Hoth and Endor.
The standard AT-ST is fine from my point of view, the guns on General Weiss' experimental scout walker however...
I'm worried less about the guns and more about Weiss himself. He's so TINY!
Guns on the side yes, massive cannons no. And most of the rebel troopers did not have antenas.
Actually, they did. I pulled up a screen shot last night while I was painting them and there is a thin whip antenna on their helmets. Almost impossible to see, but its there.
General Weiss is from the Shire.
He's like a tiny dictator with a height complex... at least that's how I imagine him too short to be a storm trooper so they made him an officer.
You could cut off the little antenna if they bother you that much. The models are pretty well done when you consider their board game piece materials they have to stand up to being handled by fat gaming nerds with sausage fingers if they make the guns too small they'll snap off if the model falls over.
Edited by DodtJust because it is fun to do...
Where in canon does it say the AT-ST was prototyped on Hoth?
Since as per official canon, Pirates were flying B-wings just after Yavin, the AT-ST was likely not debuted on Hoth.

No they weren't. They had scout walkers as early as 5 years before the battle of Yavin on the Rebels TV show, and they had the AT-ST in use after, they're in the Marvel comic book that takes place between ANH and ESB.
The guns on the side of Weiss are a bit over the top, but it's a prototype vehicle, so most likely it has stuff that normally wouldn't work bolted on and jury rigged to see if powerplant can cope with the extra weapons.
Edited by VanorDMIt appears that I cannot find that lovely peice of information, which is very frustrating. Also please note that it came out before the cartoons started changing Star Wars history. A lot of things stopped adding up when the cartoons came out. Similar to how some things seem way more advanced in the clone wars than rebellion era.

Even if you could, it's no longer valid, because the new TV shows, comic books, novels, ect... are all canon sources and override anything from the EU.
Since I see a AT-ST;s in Issue 3 of the Star Wars comic, which takes place between ANH and ESB, that means the AT-ST did not protype on Hoth.
How can you not love the All-Terrain Overkill Transport?
You could just snap in the smaller guns they packed in with Weiss. I do like that they did something to separate the hero character from the base model, but also allow you to swap pieces for more flexibility without having to buy multiple base sets for multiple walkers.
If Weiss seems like too much overkill with both guns just give him one and stick the standard AT-ST weapons that come with him on the other side. Still clearly a modified walker but less overkill.
It also helps with that bit in the finale where you need two Weisswalkers: stick one gun on one of them and the other on the other.
Yeah, I'm actually talking about the normal one... I'm slightly ok with Weiss because he is a special customized unit. Although he does look too much like a mech for my tastes.

Don't be lazy. Put in the DVDs, vhs, or laserdisc in the respective player and look. Also the movie came out almost four decades ago, there are sufficient 'pics'.
If you enlarge x100 you can see them. Lol
Makes it totally worth sticking a breadstick on the side of their heads.

Wow wow there. Just seemed like a legit/fair request (to another person) that had seemingly had the pics/sequence "at hand".

I just google imaged "Rebel Trooper" when I was painting them and pulled up one showing them getting ready for the stormtrooper attack in the beginning of Episode IV. They're thin, but they are there.
Edited by GullwindWhen looking for reference pics, don't look at the pic of the fat cosplay guy and his "super-realistic costume".... he's just a fat nerd who likes to play dress-up, he wasn't the costume designer on the movie set lol.
Look at pics of the movie, or even watch the movie... its the first couple minutes, its not like you need to dig.
But, its 2015, 10 seconds worth of google search will give you pics from the movie (again, ignore the fat cosplay guy) and see for yourself.
Can't spare 10 seconds... then yes, they do have antennaes. Of course, you could have spent 10 seconds on google before declaring shenanigans on the internet about them adding stuff that shouldn' be there lol
Edited by StromboliShort in stature. Extra big guns. Weiss is compensating for something.
There are limitations on the material they work with so that's why we have fat antenna on their hats. You can bet if they left the antenna of there would be another thread complaining about it.
What about replacing the antenna with a small bit of metal wire?
Edited by DodtThat's what I'm planning on doing.
