Gleeful Plague Beast Vs. Land Raider

By A Muse N Games, in Warhammer 40,000: Conquest - Rules Questions

Hi All,

Had this come up at a tournament, and I've since been told we handled it wrong, so I figured I'd double check

Gleeful Plague Beast Text:

Forced Reaction: After the combat phase begins, deal 1 damage to each unit at this planet.

Land Raider Text:
Non-
Vehicle units you control at this planet cannot be targeted by enemy card abilities

How we ruled it:

We ruled it that the Land Raider prevents the Forced reaction from targeting or dealing damage to non-vehicle units controlled by the SM.

Based on a forced reaction is an ability.

Were we correct?

Unfortunately No.

The Land Raider only prevents units non-vehicle from being targeted. The plague beast's reaction doesn't not target it just deals blanket damage so it bypasses the Land Raider much like Warpstorm.

If Land Raider was written as "Non-vehicle units you control can not be damaged by enemy card abilities" then it would avoid the damage but non targeting effects will still get by.
