[Fix Theory] What is wrong with Ordnance (?)

By Babaganoosh, in X-Wing

Yes, but unlike most other ships with missile slots, Awings were terribly expensive for what they brought to the table sans ordnance. Bombers, on the other hand, were never a terrible value.

I got pretty pissed after the Chardaan Refit fix. FFG pretty much said that the missile slot on all ships is worth 2 points...

That's not true. The A-wing didn't often use its missile slot, and it also needed to be about 2 points cheaper, and the Chardaan Refit brings those two things together in a way that leaves it able to still take modifications and titles.

That's not even remotely the same as the statement that a missile slot is worth 2 points. Does that mean a naked Scimitar Squadron Pilot should cost 12 points? If Han Solo doesn't take a missile, is he really worth 2 points less? What about Dash Rendar + Outrider + HLC?

With ordinance broken, NO ONE uses their missile slot.

Sith, absolutes, etc. I've run very successful lists that include missiles.

the payoff it too uncertain with ordnance.

if specialist ships got a free missile or torp maybe?

the points investment had to be worth it. if it was bomber lists would have taken off.

i like what theyr doing with Y-Wings having ordnance.

the way the game is designed, having too many points on a single ship is bad, unless that ship is very hard to take down.

i also like the idea of defense dice being ignored. it would def make missiles playable perhaps even a must play.

Quick idea: any ordinance that requires spending the target lock to fire has the Wedge/outmaneuver effect (reduces enemy agility by 1)
