New Players question

By Dietcokeofevil, in Battlestar Galactica

We played our first game of Battlestar Galactica yesterday, and it was great fun. It was a three player and humans lost, but it came down to the wire.

Here are some questions that popped up during game play:

1) Can a revealed Cylon player still make use of his character card abilities?

2) What happens when a pilot, who is flying a viper, reveals that he is a cylon? Does the ship get destroyed? Is it left unmanned? Returned to the hangar?

3) While in the brig can you still use actions? As president, I got stuck in the brig and kept failing to get out. So I just stayed in the brig and kept using executive order each turn as my action. Was that okay?

4) Can you choose options, such as on event cards, to discard cards when you don't have the required amount of cards to discard? Like say an option on a crisis card is lose one food or discard three cards. If you only had one card, could you choose the discard three cards options and only discard one?

Thanks a bunch for the help!

1. No. Page 20 of the rulebook states "Revealed Cylon players may not use actions or abilities listed
on Skill Cards."

2. The viper is returned to the reserves. Page 2 of the 4-20-09 FAQ.

3. The brig only restricts movement and how many cards you can contribute to skill checks. You are still free to use launch scout, executive order, consolidate power, and other skill cards (like Strategic Planning). Additionally, you can still use special abilities like Boomer's Recon or Tigh's Declare Martial Law, unless they are specifically excluded from working in the brig, like Lee's Alert Viper Pilot ability,

4. You can always choose the top or bottom section of a crisis, unless the card explicitly forbids you to (like the Build Cylon Detector crisis). Page 30 of the Rulebook, clarifications section.

Hope this helps!
