Has anyone else noticed that Armada has more replies than Imperial Assault? This game is gonna be huge!

I wouldn't object to that :)

Cheaper 40k mini's, better thought out rules, general awesomeness....

Too bad for GW

Shrug. I'm not about to feel bad for a company that seems to actively hate its fans. FFG has problems, but they put out higher quality products that are still somehow more affordable, and they're able to do it without actively spiting their fans and customers, which puts them miles ahead of GW.

I wouldnts ay GW hates its fans, it is just that GW are English/British... they tend to hate everything. :)

Ive always found these forums very sociable and friendly (and not all forums are.. trust me!). I think the thing that has always set X Wing .. and Armada above other similar productsis their attention to detail on their product (as in look at the moulds for the star trek equivalent compared to the x wing stuff). FFG had got it right.. I just think they release too much in each wave.

Any rpg product that is produced out of the UK is more expensive (look at the conversion rate to the pound vs both the US dollar and Aus dollar), not just GW STUFF.

So .... everything GW has proven to be utterly incapable of doing?

This is true, but you can not explain the absolutely ridiculous markup that increases EVERY year on just shipping fees. It's human greed, plain and simple.

I mean, that post sounds angry because GW makes me angry, and GW makes me angry because there was a point in time where I really cared about their products and fiction. I was invested in 40k, I loved reading the novels, and for years I excused their sh*tty behavior because I liked their games. Eventually I snapped, and as you can tell, I'm still pretty bitter about it.

Np, I used to have a kickass Necron Army, then they shook up the rules and well.. I gave up. Then I tried Necromunda which they sorta supported then stopped doing so. It just got so irritating. Its no surprise their own retail shop chain is in trouble.

Yet a LOT of people still play 40K and their others games. A Lot. So even if they are doing something wrong, a LOT of people forgive them for everything all the time and repeatedly.

The novels were the best things about the setting really. Cept their BS insistence on keeping 2 of the Founding primarchs as 'unknowns' . Utter ass move.

Anyway, More on Armada please.!

You should also remember that IA is very much a board game in many ways. Most people that buy it will just play it at home with thier buddies and never actively participate in an online forum about it. Different styles of games.

GW shop has a massive player base by sheer virtue of being the big dog in the yard for the longest time. But now the Corpse God is rotted with bloat, and Father Nurgle is knocking on the door.

Look at GW financial statements for the last few years. They're losing money each time. Truly, the End Times are upon us.

Although GW rules are bad for me "space marines" form an importent part of a culture. Everyone involved into board games knows them. My 2y old doughter already knows what a space marine looks like. I would be realy sorry if that culture wouldnt be available anymore for the next generations.

So you're saying GW are terrible because they are British? I find that and your point about the conversion rate between currencies irrelavent; Games Workshop charge £20 for five miniatures these days and that has nothing to do with nationality, conversion rates or whatever else you'd use as a silly jab; They're just greedy.

I call GW the Nefarious Drug Dealer. I love warhammer, and I cant stop playing...but I hate GW so much....

I broke the Warhammer addiction almost ten years ago now... haven't looked back since.

I don't think anyone is arguing 40k will disappear. Just that FFG may dominate the market so hard they end up taking over. FFG already has the license to do non-minis games using WHFB and 40k. In my opinion, it is only a matter of time until GW decides to just give up. FFG would make a solid landing spot for the franchises and I think many former/existing 40k players would be beyond happy if FFG took over and simplified/balanced the games and made it more accessible from a cost and simplicity standpoint since it would greatly grow the interest.

Hell, I have a whole bunch of 40k stuff lying around. If they announced that 40k 9th(?) Edition was going to be overhauled by FFG, I would have to at least give it a try once it came out.

I loved and still do love most of GWs fringe games. Mordheim, Blood Bowl, Battle Fleet Gothic, Epic 40K. Still love al those games. I am al for FFG making a Star Wars themed version of Mordheim.

Or Battle Fleet Armada. For the time being, I am lovin me some Star Wars Armada!

This post is me.

Except I'm not that bitter, because I discovered Wings of Glory and X-Wing and now have Armada, and those games are better and cheaper than GW and so I'm happy. GW is like a bad ex, except I've found someone new and moved on and they're just totally spiraling out of control. Good riddance, I say.
