Wanting to use hype off the new movies and plans to reuse movie sets.... Probably going to be set in the force awakens time period so not a whole lot we can speculate on yet, unfortunately.

I remember watching this years ago:

This was 2013. If this technique was perfected, production costs would be significantly lower. If I recall from an interview a long time ago, the only thing holding back a SW tv series was trying to fit it to 1MM per episode. But that was years ago.

In 2011:

"The TV series is on hold, but that has nothing to do with the Czech Republic; it has to do with [the episodes being] so ambitious. We have 50 hours of third-draft scripts, but the problem we have is there is a lot of digital animation; we don't have the technology yet to be able to do them at a price that is safe for television. Since we would be financing them, it would be suicide for us to do this [now]. So we are going to wait three or four years. Network television and cable television as we know it are completely imploding, so we're not really sure that in five years' time we can release a dramatic one-hour episode because it is all reality TV now."

So 4 years later, here we are. Exciting.

I would actually rather see a new Star Trek series - provided it's in the prime timeline, and NOT a prequel.

I'll believe it when I see it. They have been talking about a live-action SW for years.

Can't they just employ the guys who made imps?

I always thought they could do a CSI Trek.
