Rules Mistake?

By TheWanderingMiller, in Star Wars: Armada

I was reading the rules last night and I think I found a small mistake in the Rules Reference. I believe this is not the intent of the rules but simply an oversigh that t I'd like to see corrected. Please correct me if I missed something...

Page 2 - Attack - Step 6

If the attacker is a ship and the defender was a squadron, the attacker can delcare another enemy squardron as a defender and repeat steps 2 through 6.

Step 1 of attack is when line of sight is determined. As currently written step 1 and LOS determination is skipped on the 2nd squadron. Therefore a ship can attack a squadron and then (using the same attacking hull zone) attack a 2nd squadron that is within arc and range but is obstructed by a ship or obstacle without the obstruction penalty to the attack roll. When attacking 2 or more squadrons, it would benefit the attacker to first aim at an unobstructed squadron before dealing with any that are obstructed so that there is no penalty to the attack.

Thats a good catch, but I believe the intent is that Step 6 is the same as Step 1. IE, for you to declare it as a target, you have to check for LOS and firing arc anyway. At which point you'd discover if it was obstructed or not and adjust if so. But you're right that does need some clarification.

A good technical reading, but one that I am going to disagree with. I consider step 6 to be a repeat of step 1 when applicable. This just got mentioned in a comment while I was typing this one :P
