2 player campaign?

By Aerros1, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hello everyone, New here. Long time lurker first time poster. Anyways I have just purchased this game and am awaiting it's arrival but I have some Questions. Now I know it has a 2 player skirmish game to create a competitive, organised play twist to it but how playable is a 2 player campaign. It will mostly be me and my Fiance playing the game, 1 as Imp, other as Rebel. Does it play well that way? How many Rebels can a single player play and it still feel fun(or even work)? Wha'ts the optimized player count for campaign?

Thanks in advance

The rulebook suggests the rebel player to control 2 heroes each with 2 activations each. We actually prefer for the rebel player controlling 4 heroes. It's a little more to manage, but the missions seem more balanced this way, since this game was designed for 5 players.

How about a single hero Rambo style:

+ 30 hp, 4 activation tokens :)

Ok ... there is no heavy guy (yet). Wait for TS.

;)

Yes. Rambo. It's all about Rambo.

Go with all four rather than 2 with Legendary.

The Empire can handle ten guys at once, I'm sure the Rebels can do four fancy ones.

My son and I play a 2 player campaign. He plays 4 Rebel Heroes and I play the Empire. We enjoy it. It is pretty easy to manage and I help him out since he is only 11.

So its more like playing against yourself.

Try to play Chess against yourself. You win every time.

I would just take Luke (+30 hp, 4 activations, 2 attacks p.a.) with the ability cards of the jedi character ... or something alike

That wouldn't be particularly balanced. A single hero will be at a disadvantage for the objective orientated missions.

I do the same, with my son the same age. I also do that with my friend who's my age. I naturally give more help to my son then my friend.

But I've never found a big issue with having someone run 2-4 heroes. If I can run 3-6 stormtroopers, 1-2 officers, and what ever else I have, someone else should be able to deal with the 4 heroes.

The problems arise later when you handle added abilities and items. It's a bit taxing to handle 16 different abilities trying to figure most out. As IP you just pick a class and open groups.

We are starting a new campaign soon with two rebels and see how it goes.

I agree my son has trouble keeping track of all his bonuses and I have to remind him.
