Skirmish Squad: wookiees and spies

By Jonnyb815, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Yes I know it doesn’t have take init and doesn’t use a lot of the normal cards. This is just version 1 of the squad. The main goal right now is to see if it can keep up with the crazy act squads then fine tune it with more damage.

Chewie x1
Elite Sab x2
Gaarakan x1
Gideon x1

Command Cards

3 x1 Debts Repaid
2 x1 Adrenaline
2 x1 Furious Charge
2 x1 Lock on
2 x1 Inspiring Speech
1 x2 Bodyguard
1 x1 Provoke
1 x1 Change of Plans
0 x1 Fleet Footed
0 x1 Element of Surprise
0 x1 Deadeye
0 x1 Planning
0 x1 Urgency
0 x1 Sit Tight

I like it. I think Chewbacca is amazing and the more I use him the more I like him. Especially his slam ability. I used a similar squad however instead of elite Sabs I used regular and Mak

I would run explosive weaponry over sit tight, but everything else looks good!

You are finding Chewbacca to be worth it, then? Obviously, Chewbacca is good (high health, 2 defense dice, good ranged attack pool, stun for a surge, slam, protector, good traits), but I've questioned whether he was good enough to be the centerpiece of a squad, which at 38 percent of your points he has to be. At 15 points, the question almost has to be "Does he win games?" So, does he?

Any build that has a way to focus a 3 attack dice unit is pretty strong.

Chewy is great as he gives the sabs a little survivability but by doing this they are exposed to enemy squads running blast units.

I'd run this more for the wookiee rage synergy than Chewy himself. Otherwise I'd consider dropping Chewy for Luke and another set of Sabs. (regular obviously)

I made that build lol. In this build you can setup stuff turn 2 blasts and not have to go for turn 1 blasts to keep of with imperials.

Vs Vader Chewie is good one on one. With Blast and all the black dice the imperials have shouldnt be too hard. Yeah when I sat down the point was to add rage and I still might.

My first run at this not looking at the damage its straight tricks the command cards give you to off set all the speed the rebels and acts they have.

I would definitely say he is worth it. He has good damage output only a little lower than the RGC (tables for dice percentages are here https://emeralddays.wordpress.com/2015/03/12/choosing-three-your-dice/ ). He is an incredible control piece that doesn't go away easy. Like Jonnyb815 mentioned he can handle Vader one on one which is great considering he is 3 points less. I think Slam is what makes Chewbacca shine. I've been practicing with him lately and Slam can really make all the difference in controlling objectives or positioning an enemy unit for another unit to get a better shot.

Tank squads are the it thing right now and with Slam you can get split that up also great for objectives like you said. The combo of a board control piece like the Elite sab and Chewie I think is a great combo. I do think Rebels and Mercs are still a little behind and think they will be even once we get wave 2. I think the power is Stun on a ranged piece. A reason why I think if the Imperials ever go a piece that gives Focus the Elite Officer will be great.
