Responses after struggles, timing and power drain

By Xodan, in CoC Rules Discussion

Hello!

I'm a new player to CoC and some of the timing and distrupt rules are still a bit hazy for me.

1) Responses after struggles.

So what I've gathered so far by reading this forum, all the struggles from all the three stories are resolved before any responses are played.

Do the responses start from the active player? For example if I have Monster Hunter (Response: after you win an icon struggle by at least 2 icons, pay 2 to choose and wound a character with skill 2 or lower) and my opponent has Military Advisor (Response: after Military advisor is wounded, pay 2 to choose and wound a character with skill lower than Military Advisor). We both have some other random characters too.

I'm the active player and win 3 struggles by 2 icons and also the opponents Military Advisor is wounded in one of the struggles.

After resolving stories, can I now use Monster Hunter's response 3 times, before my opponent can use Military Advisors response, or do I use the response once and then my opponent can use Military Advisors response to wound and kill the Monster Hunter , before I resolve the other two responses?

2) Adult Deep Ones distrupt ability

If I have an Adult Deep One (Distrupt: Pay 2 to cancel a card effect that chooses Adult Deep One as a target) and my opponent plays Shotgun Blast targetting the Adult Deep One , I can pay 2 to cancel it and the Shotgun Blast goes to my opponent's discard pile and no effect takes place?

What if story card Rotting Away (Each player sacrifices all characters with printed skill 2 or lower) is resolved, can the Adult Deep One distrupt that effect? Probably not as it didn't specifically get chosen as target, although it is included in "all characters"?

3) Power Drain

I have Power Drain (Distrupt: Cancel an Action or Response just played or used)

3a) I can play it to cancel say Shotgun Blast targetting one of my characters?

3b) I can play it to cancel Hungry Dark Young response effect (Response: After Hungry Dark Young enters play, put into play from your hand or discard pile a character with printed cost 2 or lower)?

3c) I can't play it to cancel a character or support card from entering to play?

AFAIK the responses are played in turns, starting by the active player.

Correct.

No, it doesn't choose deep ones specifically, so it can't be cancelled.

Yes and yes.

No, you can't. While playing a character or support card is 'taking an action' it's not an Action: effect, and can't be cancelled.

Thanks for the fast response. gran_risa.gif
