Exhausted defense tokens rules question

By PlayerNine, in Star Wars: Armada

So if a ready defense token is spent and exhausted, and the exhausted token is not spent, I was under the impression that the exhausted token becomes ready again at the start of the next round.

However, I seem to have fabricated this. Does an exhausted token just stay exhausted forever until spent a second time and discarded?

Nope, you're on the right track. I've been using the rules reference the most, and I like how at the end of a topic it has related topics as well. If you go from Defense Tokens to Status Phase you will see that an exhausted token is readied at the end of the round. You can also check the quick reference at the end of that same manual for a quick overview of the important aspects of each round.

Oh good. I am glad that A) I wasn't just making up rules again and B) that exhausted defense tokens ready-up the next turn. That really encourages you to try to get the opponent to blow their exhausted defense tokens.

If they never got them back anyway, there would be no motivation to use Accuracy, less motivation to focus fire, etc. I really like the way this game is structured.

You can however spend and exhausted defense token and then it is lost and does not recover.

Basically in dire straights you can spend it again but the cost is high.

Consider this, if it is near the final round of the game, a player may choose to exhaust and lose a defense token rather than keep it till the end of the game. No point in finishing a game with unused tokens. It will certainly add a few suspenseful tactical desicions especially near the end.

Well since you can use accuracy to disable defense tokens of your choice, it's perfectly valid to try and get them to discard it early by blocking the readied options.
