I am planning on getting two starter sets, but...

By Hrathen, in Star Wars: Armada

I missed weighing in on the original thread about multi-core. I personally, have two cores on pre-order. My reasoning behind it is:

  • Extra Damage deck. An extra D-deck is the biggest factor leaning me into the multi-core approach. I'll have a spare (super handy when hitting the tourneys). You ever lose something necessary to play a game... you learn from those moments...
According to the rules you only play with one Damage deck, unlike X-Wing.

Hence why he said spare I'm guessing.

Who wants to be confined to only ever playing 300 pt. games? I say go for it. Play 500 or even 1000 pts. per side. Sure, the missions are balanced for 300 pts., but who's to say you can't play two missions simultaneously or rebalance the objective value for a higher point match. Heck, you could just accept the fact that the mission isn't worth quite so much as kill points for the current game and simply go for it.

I ordered 2 core sets. Pretty much for the same reasons that Handsome G listed.

@Nematode - Exactly, and I think we all have way over 300 points worth of ships when wave 2 hits! And at some point I wanna field everything at the same time! ;)

While it is always nice to have a spare, or is not quite as critical as in X-Wing.

Still, I hope they will be selling spares separately.

I'm sure they'll be opportunity to sell or trade unwanted ship models if you do get multiple core sets - I know I'll be looking on ebay in the coming weeks for a Star Destroyer (not looking to getting into the game just yet as X-wing and LOTR are already expensive pursuits).

I am sad now. I thought wave one was releasing simultaneous to the core so you could play full games with out two cores. You mean that's not true?
