Ally packs rules and rewards

By usgrandprix, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

1. If you get a reward of a deployment card that has two versions, say the rebels troopers, do you get both versions? Are there written rules on this?

2. What are the rules on players reading the side missions? I know players are not allowed to read the campaign book but I don't think there are written rules on the ally pack side missions, right?

Thanks.

1) If you win the same ally twice, you are then allowed to bring either the regular *OR* elite version of that ally (if it exists).

"Rebel Allies", RRG, Page 5:

If an ally has both a regular and elite Deployment card, only the regular card can be used as an ally. If an ally is rewarded to the heroes and the heroes have already earned that ally, they can use either the elite or regular Deployment card.

2) Side missions fall under the same hidden information as missions in the Campaign Guide.

Prefect. Thanks.

An added question - how do you get them again in a side mission? I thought once you finish a side mission it is removed. Would you have to put two of the same side mission in when building the deck?

You cannot put two of the green missions in the side deck. In the "Building the Side Mission" section on pg 17 of the RRG it says

" Four green Side Mission cards chosen by the hero players. Heroes cannot choose more than one of these cards that rewards the same ally"

You are able to get them if it is a reward for a green mission and a red mission, however. .Rebel Troopers, for example, are awarded for both a green mission and a red mission (Gidens) so you could technically get both in a campaign.

iirc, there's 2 mission that reward you with the rebel saboteurs, one comes in the core and the other with the expansion.

Currently you can't get Elite Saboteurs as they are both green missions.

Where did you see that the color of the card has any relation to unlocking the elite version?

I just checked the Rules Reference (p.5), and there's no mention of color.

NVM, I just saw the other post about it. I guess FFG decided elite saboteurs were too powerful for the campaign.
