In Heir to the Jedi, which is the latest book in the new canon, the CloakShape fighter makes an appearance along with a couple of B-wings being flown by pirates. Also, in the preview of the next novel, V-Wings are mentioned along with Vader's personal Eta-2 Actis. I think their appearance in the books makes them likely candidates for X-Wing.

I have little doubt, that we will see the Cloackshape fighter at some point, visually it will fit with the Scyk. The Episode 3 V-wing is just a weak wierd design in my opinion, I looks like it was put into Episode 3 just to sell another toy. It also carries an astromech wich I hope the Empire does not get the option of taking, we already have to factions with that flavour.
Out of curiosity, what role does the V-wings play in the Rebel era together with Vader?
More ships being brought back as canon is indeed a good ship though seeing as these are mostly considered prequel ships I'm not sure we are going to see them in X-wing.

What do you think the cloakshape fighter could add to the game? Dhe designers have often said that each ship needs to add something new. The cloak shape would seem to overlap the z95 and naked scyks. I don't remember anyone hypothesizing specifically about what the cloakshape would do on the table.

Are you suggesting that pirates actually purchased B-wings? I think those might be the worst pirates I've ever heard of.
I find it hard to believe they'd get their hands on rare B-wings but can't nab the far more plentiful Imperial gear.
Also, how do you steal a B-wing? If they've got rebels in them they're fighting back, if they're on the ground then you'd be far richer by selling the location of the rebel base you just found to the Imperials.

I dunno, I kind of see it being something akin to a Scum TIE bomber with some of the Scyk's customizability (because that's a word now). Might really be too close to the Y-wing to work, but then again it's probably the next most viable new Scum ship candidate after the bounty hunter ships.

Cloakshape is nothing like the Scyk or Z-95. It's a medium shield, very heavy hull design, akin to a Y-wing or a B-wing. Firepower is moderate, but can be augmented. I think it's like a Scum B-wing probably, in my view. I hope they give us the Kimogila instead though.

I thought they were lightly armed, missile slot, no stock shields, slow like z95, but quite modifiable (like scyk). Wookiepedia did mention frequent upgrades of electronicsignature - perhaps enough to justify systems slot on a cheap ship.
Perhaps they would be something like this:
Attack: 2
Defense: 2
Hull: 5
Shields: 0
Slots: Missile, Systems
Actions: target lock, focus, evade?
Cost: 16
Missile or title card that reduces cost of a modification by 3 or 4.
And / or a unique Rear Stabilizer modification that modifies maneuver color (red hard turns to green).
Dial: similar to tie bomber
1: green straight
2: green straight, white banks, red turns
3: green straight, white banks, red turns
5: red k-turn
Like shrike, I'd rather see more of the Hutt ships but if we see the Cloakshape it might be interesting like this.

I think you could throw in a cheap Cloakshape at 13-14 points with maybe 2 / 2 / 4 / 0 .
With a Cannon, System, Missile, and Torpedo slot. Include a title for 0 points that lets you take two modifications and doesn't restrict you from taking two of the same modification.
Give it a Tie Fighter like dial but with the hard 1-turns red. Then include a modification that turns hard turns white for 1-2 points.
This gives you the flexibility to turn the CS into whatever you want it to be. Cheap blocker with Enhanced scopes. Heavy weapons platform with HLC and a HU or two. The Scums cheap missile and torp carrier, etc.

God no. Just in lieu of the Cloakshape. The perfect scum release will be the Dunelizard and Kimogila, along with the Minstrel Class Space Yacht. Then, Scum will be basically done as far as I'm concerned. If they want to throw in the Havoc and Punishing One, I'm okay, but those are the three I'm looking for.

The Cloakshape overlaps more with the Z95 and Y-Wing than the Scyk; the Scyk is very much an interceptor while the Cloakshape is a sluggish, resilient fighter. It would probably fly similarly to a Scum version of a TIE Bomber, but with just one or two missile slots.

We already have 12pt and 14pt ships. Cheap missile carrier is z95. Cheap cannon or torp is scyk. Scyk is maneuverable while z95 has bland handling. Cloakshape doesn't have a place here.
I think it has more hit points and systems. Costs around 16. This differentiates it. Add some interesting modification aspect (two, unique, point reduction, etc). This has the makings of a ship I could see. This would actually not overlap the dunelizard, which I see having shield(s), 3 attack, crew/astro, higher cost.
