Mak - Jeswandi Training

By DessonRathma, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

Hello,

I am playing as the Imperial player and encountered an issue where the group was split on how to resolve it. One player is playing Mak and has Jeswandi Training. I resolved an attack with a probe droid that was in another room from Mak. The droid was within three spaces, counting directly from Mak to the droid, however, this direct path goes through a wall. The player argued that the card only reads as 'within three spaces' and does not reference LoS, however, I felt it was not within the intention to allow a player to gain focus on an attack they had no LoS to.

I was hoping someone could post something with a reference to this. During this session, the general consensus fell to Mak not getting the Focus from Jeswandi Training as he had no LoS/LoE to the triggering attack, but I would like to be sure for future games. I'm sure there is a very simple answer to this that we are simply missing.

Thanks to all in advance.

Counting Spaces (Rules Reference p.9)

To determine this number, the player counts the number of movement points it would take for a figure to move from one space to the other. Impassible terrain, figures, and difficult terrain can be moved into and through without costing additional movement point for this measurement. This measurement cannot go through walls, doors, or blocking terrain.

If a figure’s ability specifies to choose something within a set number of spaces, players count spaces from the figure using the ability. Likewise, if an ability specifies to choose an adjacent figure, the figure must be adjacent to the figure using the ability.

Thanks!

This appears to answer my question on this topic. I thought it was something very basic we were missing and this clearly resolves it.

fantastic, my rebel players team have being using Gideon's command and jeswandi training through walls for a while. this helps the imperials more. thanks
