Pilot abilities for characters in other movies

By SpikeSpiegel, in X-Wing

We were playing a few games today when we came up with the idea of making pilot abilities for non-SW movie characters, example:

Bryan Mills' (Liam Neeson) ability from the Taken series would have "When an enemy ship destroys a friendly ship you control, you may immediately acquire a target lock on that ship". Trying to stay true to the "I will find you, and I will kill you" line that made him hilariously famous. ;)

I'd also put him in an Interceptor, or maybe an A or X-Wing since he's more of a good guy?

What abilities would you come up with for other characters in non-SW movies and what ships would you put them in? :D

Top Gun's Maverick: When you overlap any other ship, give that ship a stress token.

Top Gun's Maverick: When you overlap any other ship, give that ship a stress token.

Except Iceman's.

Starbuck:

Either early series: When no friendly ships are within range 1 of you, roll 1 additional die when attacking and 1 additional die when defending

Or

Later series: When a lower PS pilot is within range 1 of you, he or she rolls two additional attack die against unique pilots, if the attack hits, take one facedown damage card.

Captain Apollo: You may use inertia.

Worf:

"Prepare for ramming speed!"

When you overlap an enemy ship with remaining health equal to or lesser than your own, you may choose to destroy both ships.

Spock: At the beginning of the planning phase you may pre-measure all maneuvers.

Dark Helmet (Spaceballs): At the end of the Activation phase, you may perform a white 5 forward maneuver. Then, receive one stress token.

Lone Star: After you perform a [left turn] or [right turn] maneuver, you may assign one focus token to this ship.

Boomer from recent Battlestar Galactica.

At beginning of combat round, roll one red die. If a critical, you may attack a friendly ship and reduce their defense by one during the attack. Then you can join the other faction.

Well, he's not a character but he's been in movies, so...

Lemmy Kilmister

"When attacking, you may change any dice results to (crit). When defending you may change any dice results to evades."

Motorhead

Title

"Before or after executing a maneuver you must perform a boost action."

Because Lemmy is god, and baby I'm a speed freak!

Bill & Ted (Bill and Ted's excellent adventure)

At the start of the planning phase Bill and Ted may acquire the pilot skill of any another ship in play..

Boomer from recent Battlestar Galactica.

At beginning of combat round, roll one red die. If a critical, you may attack a friendly ship and reduce their defense by one during the attack. Then you can join the other faction.

Once you have switched factions in this manner, you must continue to do so every turn until destroyed. If Boomer is the last ship remaining, players must have a staring contest to settle the match.

Inigo Montoya: At the beginning of play, nominate an enemy ship. You count as always having a target lock on that ship, even if you spend it to reroll dice or activate a card with an Attack: Target Lock header.

Morgan Kell: You may not be the target of any attack made from beyond Range 2. Immediately discard any Red Target Lock tokens assigned to you. Focus tokens may not be spent in attacks made against you.

Tira Miraborg: If you overlap an enemy ship, or if an enemy ship overlaps you, instead of resolving the collision normally you may choose to destroy both your ship and the enemy ship.

Snoopy: If your ship is destroyed, you may crash land in occupied France and be rescued by a beautiful farmgirl. After spending several days in her care recuperating and falling in love, you must then leave her and cross no-man's land to rejoin your unit and get a new ship.

Star-Lord:

Once per match, you may activate the Jackson Pollack effect: instead of attacking, all ships at range one receive one stress token and one ion token.

Jason Nesmith: At the start of each round, select any pilot ability from any friendly ship. You gain that ability until the end of the round. Gain two stress tokens.

Gwen DeMarco: At the start of each round, assign Gwen a focus token. This focus token cannot be spent to modify attack dice.

Alexander Dane: When a friendly ship within Range 1 is destroyed, you may immediately perform an attack, adding 1 attack die to your roll. Add 2 attack dice if your target is the one who destroyed the friendly ship.

Fred Kwan: You cannot be stressed. You cannot be assigned focus tokens.

Guy Fleegman: At the start of each round, assign Guy a stress token. At the start of each combat phase, assign Guy an evade token for each stress token he currently has.

Tommy Weber: Tommy's pilot skill is 1 at the start of the game. It increases by 1 each round to a maximum of the highest printed pilot skill on any ship.

Who are these people?

Galaxy Quest FTW!

Space quest's Roger Wilco, the janitor!

Wash out:

When moving, If your maneuver template overlap the base of another ship, remove all token from it.

The Operative from Serenity. I'd probably put him in a Raider, and give him the ability to assign target locks to every ship within range 2 of his ship.

As in: "Target the Reavers! Target everyone -- Somebody fire!"

Galaxy Quest FTW!

Oh right! I knew they sounded familiar.

That Alexander Dane idea is a solid one for the game in general.

Tyler Durden

"During the combat phase you must attack your own ship. You may not use this ability if have less than 2 hull remaining."

From Firefly

Wash- "Crazy Ivan". Your barrel rolls can go in any direction, including front and back.

Mal. "If someone tries to kill you". When rolling defense dice include 1 attack die. The attacker suffers any hits or crits.

"I am a leaf on the wind"

When you are dealt a face up damage card you may ignore the effect and the damage until the end of the following turn. Then take 1 additional damage.

Crossing over a couple here, but it works for me...

Your ship cannot be assigned stress tokens. You may perform all actions available once per turn. If you sware during the game you immediatly concede. Every time a ship is destroyed you must drink a measure of Scotch.
