Campaign using only the side missions

By Pwmf, in Imperial Assault Campaign

Having got to the stage of the last mission on two separate campaigns it occurred to me that by chance we have not played any side mission twice, but with 19 side missions now I have bought the expansions and there are extras that the imperial player can bring into play we could end up playing the campaign several times without playing some of the side missions.

With there being only two story missions at each stage there is going to be a point where it losses some replay ability, can anyone see any major problems with creating a campaign of side missions?

Could draw 12 missions and increase the threat every other mission, or maybe draw two each round and add some of the agenda missions to spice things up? Would make sure all the missions get used, keep us busy till the expansion is out.

For my groups second campaign I plan to remove as options any side missions already played in the first campaign, with the exception of each rebel characters side mission. Then I will rotate in the appropriate number of side missions we have not played. That should help maximize variety.

Although a campaign of side missions would be a good idea as well.

Thanks to open groups and allies the Story missions, especially the later ones, play differently every time. While Aftermath will be Aftermath every time you play it it's quite short. Even a New Threat can go wildly differently based on where the terminals end up and which door securities go off when.
