More reports from Atlanta store championships (I know, we have a lot)

By nikk whyte, in X-Wing

A few hours south of Atlanta, to be more precise. I wasn't actually there, but I can report that the final was triple interceptors (soontir, Carnor, RGP) beat a leebo/Chewie build for the win.

The interceptors were all loaded with PTL, stealth device and autothrusters.

Carnor dealt the final blow to Chewie with one hull left.

Atlanta is just a hot bed of X-Wing. Can't wait till the Regional.

I thought it was the hotbed of airplane traffic :P

Nice to see autoceptors marking their territory.

Soon we will see autoceptors in the flightpath around the airport in the atl.

Where's the rest of the reports from this tournament?

Proud winner of said event here. I'll say up front that Autothrusters aren't an Auto-win, they just give you a chance to survive again as a fragile interceptor against heavy turrets and massed firepower. Hits still get through (especially annoying when it's something like an "unblockable" ion shot), and rolls of all blanks still happen on the evade dice. My attack dice, on the other hand, admittedly got hot for me at times, and the one game where I felt they went cold was a loss in Swiss where I was out flown and making lots of mistakes anyway. Beyond that one bad game, I was "in the zone" for the day, and pulled off some insane moves to be able to win against the level of players I faced on the day, there were no easy wins to be found.

I'll be putting together a recap of my matchups and thoughts over the next couple of days, but I honestly took some time to go out to dinner with local friends before making the 3.5 hour drive back home last night, and I'm about to run out the door to act as TO for another event today. Several of the later games at the top table were recorded (including me getting my rear handed to me once during Swiss, and 2-3 of my wins as well), and should be appearing on The Metal Bikini, along with some discussion about the lists entered into the event, as the TO of the Galactic store championship is affiliated with that site. My personal article will be on my website, The Tabletop General, and I will be sure to link it here once posted.

It's earlier in the thread, and fully detailed in several articles linked to from that one, but I'll add it in just for clarity's sake. Thanks for pointing that out.
