Ship weapons used on ground Targets

By Varan, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi All.. I just got done last night with my first adventure in Edge .. i loved it.. but we ran into a snag... as my group was being chased by local authorities.. we had the Droid PC that was still on the ship come get us.. and we thought.. well.. the ship has big guns lets just shoot these guys with the Blaster cannons we had on board.

.. but perhaps im not seeing any rules for it or am i blind... but do you just take the damage directly from the ship table and move it over.. because then it would seem rather.. weak obviously..

the idea was pretty simple... as we ran on board the ship takes off and blasts them and we leave any hints .. or if there is a page in the book where it covers using vehicle weapons on Ground targets.. such as a AT-pt on person ?

Planetary Scale damage is x10 against Personal-scale targets (see sidebar on p. 224). Conversely, Personal-scale attacks against Planetary-Scale targets do much less damage as each point of Armor is worth 10 points of Soak (p. 226)

At the same time, it's harder for Planetary-scale weapons to hit Personal-scale targets, as they're designed to fight other Planetary-Scale targets, so you apply the rules for large differences in Silhouette (see p. 234-35).

thank you!

You're welcome.

You also have some weapons with the Breach stat, which works like Pierce but against Armor instead of Soak - the purpose being threatening a large vehicle with, say, an anti-armor missile.

The effectiveness of this is really....not great, frankly.

Also vehicle-to-people shooting can get really ugly when a hit does land as the GM "should feel free to add +50 to the resulting Critical Injury roll," which could put the targeted character at "the end is nigh" in a single roll.

A decent gunner is going to be able to chew up ground targets with vehicle-scale weapons. There's a reason why air-support and artillery are so frightening to the average infantryman in the real modern military.
