Theorycrafting, what is the "Optimal" order of events.

Ok, while almost every player will agree to spend their target lock before spending their focus. BUT, where do single rerolls come in (like Predator or Lone Wolf)? Where would one do that to have the theoretical "best" chance for a hit/crit? My thinking would be after spending the target lock and before spending a focus, but maybe the best time is before spending the target lock?

Anyone got any math on this?

Any individual die can only be rerolled once. Thus, you should use any abilities such as Predator first. You always use the focus token last, so that it can work on any eyeballs that resulted from your rerolls. Spending the target lock falls in between if necessary, and if you can make it through an attack without having to spend it, you have retained an advantage for the next round of combat.

If you have predator or lone wolf, having a target lock should be a rare thing. You should normally be taking focus, or else doing a defensive action. That being said there are times you will take one, like if you and another ship are in range of each other but not in firing arc, might as well take the target lock for the future.

what tiberious said. if you find your self in a position where you have target lock and predator/lone wolf/han's ability, absolutely use the ability prior to the lock. the lock is just insurance at that point.

I'm going to disagree about Han's ability. Having a TL when using Han really give the players two option; either you reroll ALL of you attack dice using Han's ability or you just reroll selected dice using the TL. If you roll [crit] [eye] [blank] you may want to try your luck with the TL instead of rerolling everything and seeing that [crit] go away.

Because you can only reroll a given die once it rarely matters what order you use those things in.

There is at least one occasion when you might want to use the focus token first, but that's to get R4 to generate a target lock when you don't have anything else to spend the token on.
