Do you play with yourself?

By Rocmistro, in X-Wing

So, just out of curiousity, does anyone else play with themself?

More than once I have found myself alone without a special friend with whom to enjoy my awesome toys.

When that happens, I roll out the black playmat, set up an Empire list on one side and Rebels on the other, and spend a couple hours going at myself. It's not as fulfilling as doing it with a partner, but it helps scratch the itch.

You can't really have as fulfilling an experience when you only have yourself to play with, because as I'm maneuvering for both sides, I find that I'm second guessing myself, or trying to pretend to do it for the other side without knowing what I'm doing. But I *do* know what I'm doing...for each side. So it gets tricky.

Mostly, though, it's just about slapping down those manuever templates and getting some hands-on experience with the models and the movement distances, arcs, ship footprints and so on.

So, I'm curious, does anyone else play with themself, or am I the only one?

Best way to battle against yourself; pretend your opponent knows exactly where you are going. Place your own side down, face up, and then plan the other side from there. Essentially, play like your opponent is always able to guess your maneuvers.

god **** phrasing

Sometimes, but I usually end up playing with my girlfriend, instead.

She usually wins.

Not very often, but when I do I'm like "I can hold it!"

Not really....after that time it was so intense I buckled, hit my head on the side of the table, and was knocked unconscious for hours.

It's been a while for me. That's how I ended up with Blue Squadron Pilots.

Only if i have no one else to play with. but the problem I find when I play solo, it doesn't last as long.

I heard that if you play with yourself you get hairy palms. That would make moving ships very difficult...

Except for YT1300 Chewie, I imagine. :-)

No, come on, guys, seriously, do you ever want to play X Wing so bad that you set up and play both sides of the table? i feel vaguely pathetic when I do so, but **** I have all these ships and not enough chances to play. Do you think there's any value in it? (As in, getting better at the game?)

Oh and btw, I make an amusing thread and none of you bastards like it/me? I'm disappointed! :-(

Sorry m8, too busy giving myself a hand for my own amusing comments.

90% of Xwing players play Xwing with themselves, the other 10% of the players lie about playing Xwing with themselves.

I guess the real question is....do you sit on your hand before you move your ships?

I heard if you do it too much, you'll blind your pilot.

We would get along famously.

You like playing strangers?

I like going Double Dutch Vander. It requires a buddy, but it's way more of a challenge than flying Solo.

I prefer to play by myself because then everything is how I want it to be...

It's not the best game for solo play, to be sure (no games with hidden, specific orders are particularly ideal), but on occasion I will do it as a thought exercise/test.

Feel the force flow through you.

Also, this is the best thread.

I'm playing with myself right now.

I mean... mentally I'm playing a x-wing game by myself in my head figuring out my moves....

Ahh so much win in this thread :D
