EDIT: I was grumpy

Oh, on the note about PDFs, They are available, You can get at least EotE for your tablet or Phone from several Reader sources, Scribd.com being one.

The Lucasfilm licenses (mostly unchanged since the 70's-80's) legally define a PDF of a game book as an "electronic game" which under those license agreements falls under the electronic game license (currently held by Electronic Arts), not the RPG and miniatures license.

So any PDF you find is pirated.

Oh good, a thread that brings up entirely new ideas and points of view....

Oh I am sure it comes up, and came up, I am a member of Furms for severl other companies of RPgs. Just hadn't ever had a reason for coming here.

Nore the Desire to wade through history looking for pertineint discussion.

Thanks FanGrip. People often wonder why newcomers find going to Gaming Forums intimidating and troublesome... the sarcastic and offputting responses like Ghostofman's Is one of the biggest factors, Innocuous as it may seem to the poster doing it. It is not friendly nor inviting or helpful.

True enough... apologies.

The "why three books" comes up all the time.

FFG decided do it that way. Go with it, or not, your call. From experience though it resulted in a better overall game, especially when it comes to Book 3.

Sorry if I got snippy, I was grumpy is all. Don't let me scare you off with a Wonka meme, I'd rather scare you off with a painfully in depth explanation of how the vehicular combat system works.

Thanks! and No worries Ghostofman, I am a vetran Forum user, jsut not here.

But I am a Proponent of attempting to make such areas more Friendly in an attempt to:

#1 Change the perception people have of the average gamer and

#2 Help others to not be turned off of Gaming or specific Games for similar reasons.

I especially try not to be part of the "That game system sucks and this one Rulz" Crowd.

I may not enjoy every game system out there myself, but that does not make them valid and enjoyable Game systems for others.

(some reason this sentence seems oddly writen after reading it again. But saying "does not not make them valid" sounds funny to.... Perhaps ",but that doesn't not make them" ah well you get my point.)

As for the Wonka Meme,
I am a great Original Wonka Fan as well as a Gene Wilder Fan :-)

As for the vehicular, Ya that one can throw people for a loop as it is very much based in th mind.

I tend to be a miniatures GM, We may be coming up with some Alternate house rules to run all combat a little less, Improvised.

I hate having arguements with people/Players about where they "were" or "What they would have done had they Known."

Oh, Did some one mention a Character generator? Where is this?

Does anyone Know Why, even though FFG has the List Retail price of the card decks at $6.95, All he retailers seem to be up pricing them to $9.99?

Oddly enough, I just looked up AGE of Rebellion on Amazon, It appears to be selling for about $23 to $24.

Probably for the reasons that many people don't want to pay $60 for the duplication of rules..

At that Price, I might just pick up a copy.

That sounds like the price of the Beginners Set

http://www.miniaturemarket.com/ffgswa02.html can get one close to $40 and ya can get the decks at the same print on demand price FFG sells em for instead of the upcharged amount you are seeing

Definately recommend Oggdudes Character Generator, it doesn't have the rules text but as you already have one core book of rules the only rules you arent seeing is what is actually "new" in the AoR book that way.

Yeah im iffy on dealing with wholesalers and logistics companies for products like that, prefer book and game retailers but Amazon usually is pretty good about helping you get refunds if its an issue.

yes very true about Amazon, but when it is tagged for Amazon Prime, it is a lot more likely to be what ou ordered as it is Being fulfilled by Amazon, So they ahd to provide the stock to their warehouse.

If there isn't, Really Fantasy Flight! You need to offer an Option. I would Pay $10 for an Adendum in PDF, but I can't justify Buying a second Replication of the Core rules.

(1) They're technically separate and inter-compatible games that use the same base system. This model actually works pretty well for what the writers are trying to do in differentiating the game lines.

(2) FFG doesn't have the right to make PDFs as those fall under "electronic games" for Star Wars' license, which FFG does not have.

I guess running a search or even scanning the first page is too much to ask...

amazone is showing the core rulle book

Got a Link to this print on demand for the decks? ofcourse, then there is shipping added onto that price.

I have tried to goto Oggdudes character generator but Each time I click the link I get an error page indicating something about traffic being to high or something.

Try the copy.com links. Lots of people tend to use the DropBox links, and DropBox puts a limit on individual account traffic for public files. So, they're always suspending my downloads for a day or two. This probably wouldn't happen if I actually paid for DropBox :) but I'm cheap.

Speaking of OggDude's CharGen, you get a list of almost all races both official with references and unofficial home brew that you can descriptions on all with stats at the SW wiki.

Not sure what you mean by the copy.com links...

Are they further into that thread? Not on the first post like the Drop box link?

I'm not a huge fan of the decks. What I've always used was the fan made talent tree PDFs. We print them out and then mark our talents with highlighters. I believe there is a link to some different ones in the pinned player resources thread over in the main EotE forum.

hey ya, i been looking for talent tree print outs,

I don't think the pricing scheme is out of line, and I have all three Corebooks currently (EotE, AoR and F&D Beta) and all three get used just about every session to look up rules and clarify things. I looked at it this way, all the rules are repeated, so rather than his and hers EotE Corebooks for my friends game, I bought AoR as a second copy, then started running AoR for another group.

AS far as the splats being overpriced, have you looked at these books, they're gorgeous, well made and have amazing print quality, well worth the MSRP, which I haven't actually paid yet, as my online source tends to run 15-20% off cover on there rpg's.

I tend to agree that the books aren't that badly priced either overall. The quality is good and they are hard bound books. They could be very expensive for someone with limited cashflow however.

I do find it funny however that Margaret Weis' Firefly RPG books are a little cheaper for the amount of pages, and I love the quality of the paper... but I'm sure some of that is licensing too. Disney/LFL have to get their share, and printing companies are not cheap...

Regardless, I'll end up with most, if not all, the FFG books.
