The distinctions are interesting, but it's worth noting that a ship can easily be in two different categories based on what pilots upgrades you have.

Examples:

An E-Wing is probably a jouster at heart. However Corran Horn with PTL and Engine becomes a nifty little arc dodger while retaining massive jousting potential.

A YT-2400 is a turret but when flown as "Super Dash", it becomes an arc dodger as well. The same is true to a lesser extent for YT-1300s and Decimators with engine upgrade.

If you're noticing a theme here, you are correct. All these ships which transcend the pillars are very effective ships. The reason is that this ability to become whatever they need to be helps them against a variety of builds. If Dash is flown against a Phantom/Interceptor list, he will use his maneuverability to get out of range 1 but will probably target lock and focus as much as possible to maximize his turret ability. Against a B-Wing/Z-95 swarm, Dash will be (probably) boosting and barrel-rolling every turn to get out of enemy arcs, making him more of an arc dodger.

This versatility in role is what makes these type of ships my favorite. They are expensive, but these dual-role ships offer the ability to fill whatever role you might need in your given matchup.

I'm a big fan of tanking up. I want to put as many hull and shield as I can into a list. I've recently been flying a shuttle and three Bombers together. It's hard to get 28 health into a four ship Imperial build, but I've been loving this set up.

If I had to categorize myself in the original 3 categories only...

I'd say I'm mainly a jouster, though I do a fair amount of arc dodging ships/builds as well. Rarely do turrets, especially large turrets.

You might want to try my favourite:

Soontir Fel (PTL/Shield/Autothrusters) + 3 bare Shuttles.

34 hull/shields.

Ram the shuttles in the face of the lesser manoeuvrable enemies and have Soontir to keep them honest about the shuttles flanks and rears.

That looks crazy fun, but alas, I don't own three shuttles. Might be worth borrowing some equipment to put it on the table once, though!

It is crazy fun. And it looks even better.

I only see 2 styles of lists

One's that are built to kill other lists quick focusing all pilots and up grades to do this job

Or lists that focus on defence. Where staying alive as long as you can and chip away at your opponent

I like the kill you as soon as possible lists every time I fly defensively I find I always lose

"Come closer, I want to hit you with my wing!"

How does 40 HP sound? Step 1: Field 5 Gold Squadron Pilots/Syndicate Thugs. Step 2: Give them all Autoblaster Turrets and add BTL-A4 Title cards to taste. Step 3: Profit.

Four ship Imperial build. Also: 4 Omicron Group Pilots. (Or: "herd of space cows".)

If all you want is cram hp/shields in a list; try 4x shuttle and a bomber.

Zero upgrades; 26 hp and 20 shields. (!)
