The distinctions are interesting, but it's worth noting that a ship can easily be in two different categories based on what pilots upgrades you have.
Examples:
An E-Wing is probably a jouster at heart. However Corran Horn with PTL and Engine becomes a nifty little arc dodger while retaining massive jousting potential.
A YT-2400 is a turret but when flown as "Super Dash", it becomes an arc dodger as well. The same is true to a lesser extent for YT-1300s and Decimators with engine upgrade.
If you're noticing a theme here, you are correct. All these ships which transcend the pillars are very effective ships. The reason is that this ability to become whatever they need to be helps them against a variety of builds. If Dash is flown against a Phantom/Interceptor list, he will use his maneuverability to get out of range 1 but will probably target lock and focus as much as possible to maximize his turret ability. Against a B-Wing/Z-95 swarm, Dash will be (probably) boosting and barrel-rolling every turn to get out of enemy arcs, making him more of an arc dodger.
This versatility in role is what makes these type of ships my favorite. They are expensive, but these dual-role ships offer the ability to fill whatever role you might need in your given matchup.
