Wave 8 announcement is coming soon!

By Cubanboy, in X-Wing

At-Ats on asteroids could be humorous.

And it will include the Naboo N1 Pilot Anikin Skywalker and Jar Jar Binks.

New action: Spin it.

They did something like that in TCW. AT-TE_in_space.png

I think you are all missing the mark. That is why I think they will reveal the Towani family Starcruiser!

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Towani_starcruiser

A zero attack, 1 hull, zero shield ship. Comes with the crew cards Noa and Cindel. First maneuver dial to have NO k-turns or hard turns!

It's so obscure a reference, it's practically Star Wars "Hipster" material! AND it would give FFG a chance to upgrade the HWK from being the worst ship in the game.

To be honest I actually would like to see the clawcraft as an actual ship at some point. It just looks really cool.

All that being said, the Naboo N-1 is a starfighter design that makes sense and looks great (other than the astromech slot, which I don't much care for). The only issue with it is that it was in the prequels, and the prequels left such a bad taste in my mouth that I have a hard time actually liking anything that came out of them. However, the N-1 is a cool ship, and with dual throttle controls would yaw like an absolute beast. One major thruster in that long tail and a couple in the nose would also induce great pitch control. Roll authority would suck, but this matters less in space (though you still want good roll authority). Also, the nose guns are well-positioned for concentrated fire. And the cockpit gives good all-around visibility. Solid ship design, Naboo peoples.

My cousin who totally works for FFG's design team and gives me inside information and free hookups and no I'm definitely not making any of this up told me that wave 8 is going to include the Space Trooper.

Attack: 2

Agility: 4

Hull: 1

Shields: 0

Actions: Focus, Target Lock

Dial: 1 turns, 1 banks, 1 straight, 1 K-turn, and 1 S-loops, that's all. The K-turn and S-loops are white, everything else is green.

Upgrade bar includes a proton torpedo slot, and EPTs on the high-skilled pilots.

Cost for the Space trooper starts with "Imperial Cadet" at 9 points, so you'll be able to field a swarm of 11 troopers.

Assault Missiles GO!

As long as the new proposed ships get a new maneuver: The R'ique Roll.

Where you run around and not hurt someone.

The N-1 is still a better choice than the K-wing. No matter how much I hate JarJar, the ending battle of Episode I was admittedly good (if you ignore the majority of JarJar's high jinks).

If you ignore the gun gan water balloon weaponry. The Anakin flying a starship with no training and destroying the droid control ship by flying totally out of control, and getting inside of it. The absolutely horrible swordsmanship in the light saber battles. However, other than that I'm totally with you.

Oh good, so you did like the storming the castle scene and the queen dressed as a decoy getting decoyed by the decoy dressed as the queen. =P

I actually like the way the N-1 star fighters look :(

I actually like the way the N-1 star fighters look :(

They're good, as I said above. I don't even think they're particularly "not Star Wars." They're not kit-bashed, sure, but the TIE fighters have a distinct look to them that is very different from the Rebel look. The Empire is all hard lines and angles. Very geometric. The Rebel alliance is all kit-bashed, cobbled together stuff that looks rough and ready. There's no reason to think that a relatively wealthy planet like Naboo, which fixates on environmentalism and has a clear concern with formalized aesthetics, wouldn't come up with a ship very similar to the N-1. I think the beauty of Star Wars is its diversity, and I think the N-1 has a place within Star Wars. I do NOT think that some little stupid kid hopping into a starfighter cockpit and magically saving the day has a place in Star Wars. If the Naboo starfighters had been used properly, with scenes that showcased them as much as the new tech was used to showcase lightsabers, our views of the N-1 would be different. Also, they needed an enemy that wasn't droids. The droid enemy is a terrible cop-out on George Lucas' part. It's his way of letting the good guys kill bad guys without killing a human being.

Anyway, you're not alone. I could easily see N-1s dogfighting TIE fighters and it being a reasonable thing. I would love to make an N-1 that is battle-damaged and rusted-out for Scum. Basically a remnant from the Clone Wars era that has survived into the present. A friend is giving me a tutorial on miniatures painting tomorrow. If it works out, I'll get a Mel's N-1 and give it a try.

You realize you just described A New Hope exactly, right?

EDIT: Even the "magically saving the day" part. How did Luke make the impossible shot that blew up the Death Star? By trusting in the advice from his Ghost-friend and using the magic energy that binds the universe together to guide his shot.

;)

Something I've wondered since Ep 1 came out -- where the heck did the astromech's arms go? There's no spot for them at the top of the craft, and if the astro's head just telescopically rises or something (which would be way dumb), it feels like his feet should be hanging out the bottom of the fighter.

Lol. Man, I hope you didn't just ruin my childhood for me.

it was even more magically for Luke since he had to use the Force

 You ninja'd my edit...

Not at all. There is nothing little wrong with the plot of the Prequels. It was the execution that was... lacking.

Likewise with the Original Trilogy. Luke's story isn't all that unique- there have been tons of books and reports written comparing Star Wars to the archetypal Hero myth- But it was just so freaking well executed and portrayed!

Luke is a "kid" in the 16-18 year old sense. 19 was the AVERAGE age of a fighter pilot in WW2. Anakin was what - 10 at the very oldest? Therein we have the difference.

There have been child-warriors all throughout history, though.

I love this thread

FGD sent me a pm saying he has been contacted by his Alien Overlords through his probing implant that Wave 8 is going to be Imperial Aces with Phantoms getting a much needed buff and Ace versions of Soontir and Vader for game balance.

Should be fun!

It's feet would have been sticking out the bottom. I vaguely remember reading an article that stated they made an arse of the design, and the astromechs didn't actually fit.

George Lucas wanted the design the way it was, but the astromech legs didn't fit, so yes, the idea is that the astromech head telescopes upward. Personally, I think astromechs in general are lame. It's called an avionics package, Star Wars.

Show me one who was ten years old and who accomplished something solo. I'd be interested in seeing it. As far as I'm concerned, The Phantom Menace's ending made Iron Eagle look like a documentary.

Iron Eagle is a treasured piece of cinematic gold! An epic testament to the capabilities of the F-16 Fighting Falcon and Lou Gosset Jr!

Iron Eagle II was twice as good! Killing off the main kid from the first movie in the first 5 minutes with a missile from the new main characters love interest? Now that is a Twist M. Night Shamalan is jealous of!
