I thnk the current ISD is like, 8-9 Inches.

So that makes it 3-4 Four Inches.

Almost 50% Larger. Which, really, in relative scales, is no where near large enough to suit... It'd be a very poor SSD to be shoehorned that small.

And keep in mind that, in canon, we've already got the Resurgent-class, which is twice the size of an ISD. Over in the ...

...thread, the current curve already puts that at 13".

IMHO, FFG is going to tweak the curve for the Resurgent, and it won't come in at larger than 11" or 12", but...that pretty clearly excludes an SSD from appearing at this size.

I mean...still not my favorite design, but I hate it less than when I first saw it, and if you think FFG is NOT going to put this guy in our game...you're dreaming!

I have been modeler and gamer for a long time and I have been researching building my own model of the Executor to go with my Armada ships. Other than having to play on 6'x12' gaming table, here is some food for thought.

The studio model is the bar when it comes to size. If you have never read the linked article, please do. Rather interesting.

Using the article as a reference, the FFG ISD is ~8", so the SSD should be ~68" to be the proper scale. We know FFG fudges the scale already I would prefer something close to this...

Obviously, all it takes to get the ship you want from FFG is a really long thread.

The Imperial Gunboat comes to X-wing and shows us the way!

Now it must continue. ;)

So what you are saying is, I should rename my article prediction thread anything non-ssd that I actually want, and I'll get it first?

I mean, what I should have said was:

"I have the high ground longer thread..."

I have the top SSD and it is 38" long (approx. 5x the length of the FFG ISD and about 2.5 times as wide.) Mine is on a custom base made to work with Armada. We made a custom card for it and it can absolutely work on a 6 x 3 table. The base I have is 20" long and 8" wide and is set up with arcs, shield dials et al.

The problem is the kit is nearly $500 and needed a lot of work to assemble.
I don't see FFG making an SSD that would look viable.

I was referring to this kit as a reference to a proper size compared to the other FFG ships. This resin model as with the ones from Forge World in 40K, are not for the average gamer. Now if something like a Bandai kit was available, it would be cheaper and look good. If FFG does this, I would expect something no cheaper than $150. Probably closer to $200.

I do like the base size that you chose for the SSD. It seems appropiate. Did you setup the the firing arcs the same as other Armada ships?

Looks good! The board I have started for testing (only 3 tests so far) is 20" long and 7 1/4 wide (because the board I found in the garage was that wide). I model I wanted to scale is 1000 mm (39.3 inches).

I have a mark about 5.25 inches from the front where I notch the movement tool, so that the rear does not swing so far.

Keep up the work for testing.

We should rename this topic to "This topic that never dies"

It will die as soon as we get our SSD!

If the SSD does come, will we get the Eclipse? The emperor is notably absent from the game.

No way. If the SSD was too big, the Eclipse would be WAY to big.

The SSD may have been longer by two kilometers, but the volume of the Eclipse is RIDICULOUS.

Hmmmm... The Emperor as admiral? 50 points, you may check every commaand dial of your opponent whenever you wish. All your ships have command value 1. The opponent can't use Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader against you.

Im glad im a rebel player only, so I wont have to buy this monstruous model for 200€ when the time comes.

You know that if its an SSD then they'll package Arvel Crynyd with it... special rule that when killed if in contact with the base of an enemy ship then remove all command dials from that ship. The ship then may not be given any new command dials.

That's an interesting approach. I like it. OP, but less so than 'Automatically kill the SSD'. :)

It need to get touching so its not guaranteed ... plus its got to be slightly OP to get the rebel scum to buy the glory that is our SSD! :P

edit - plus it helps get rid of the assumtion that an Awing took out a whole SSD... it just took out the bridge meaning it was out of control for a period of time, during which it crashed into the DS2

I also kind of like it, but a quick thought (not fully thought through) make it so that it can not have command tokens, and treats command dials as tokens? This makes it less over-powerful, but still powerful, keep Tarken from being able to send it tokens, it can not bank any tokens, and only get the lesser effect from any dial that it has.

You think I spent longer than 2 mins thinking the idea through iether? :P

I just wanted something that a, doesnt remove a large portion of your fleet for next to no cost but still keeps the flavour of what happened in the RtJ

OP? meh just give him 3 blue dice AA (standard not punishing AA) and let it move around. When it comes to skills that triggers into decisions of your opponet, not yours, squadron becomes ****. See Shara. Just don`,t attack her and bring intel. 17 points trashed.

Has the SSD been delayed? The new Thrawn pack includes an ISD with a fleet command slot and the missing Intensify Forward Firepower upgrade.

I'm happy to see these upgrades but sad for what they might portend.

i still think that the Super Star Destroyer is coming very soon.

they are just working on the size, balance, upgrades, commander and other things before they release this monster into the wild.

I agree. I think they would acknowledge that Wave VII was the something big if it really was.

Since when have FFG acknowledged anything they havn't been forced to, and even then, generally behind closed or exclusive reporting doors?

It makes sense. This is big, but they know what we think of when they say BIG.
