Where did you get the tiny CR90s?

The picture here does not show the Imperial deployment which included several of Mel's fighter, troop transports and shuttles.

The rest of the campaign then went to X-wing and was followed by an old Star Wars Miniatures game for ground fighting.

so, for those of you with these beautiful SSD's. have any of your recent games with them reviled any changes to your ship cards ?

Three people mentioned the SSD thread, so it is called back to the first page.

(Besides, FFG is holding back the FAQ, CC & wave 5 articles as they compete the SSD & Epic scale rules.

The Epic Scale rules are a required part of CC, and the SSD will be the Empire's Fleet Command upgrade icon ship. What else do you think SWM20 is.)

You heard it here first! ;)

Seems reasonable, unlike most suggestions in this thread. :D

And after only 61 pages? What had this world come to? (Insert A-Wing here.)

Its fire has gone out of the universe. You, my friend, are all that's left of that religion......

Surely we can get this to over 100?

I vote yes, but It may need to wait for FFG to get off their Armada article butts!

Or if the SSD is SWM20, and is no longer needed. ;)

Oh man.................now look what you have done........you have scratched the new paint job.............the boss is not going to be happy..........

I'm sure I can explain this to the Emperor and Vader once they get back from that new Death Star.

I ran this SSD in an Endor scenario. I was very happy with it, both the model and the ship card. I'd encourage anyone interested to make a cardboard SSD. Fun, and not too hard to put together!

Haha SSD's are for plebe Imperial Warlords scrambling for the New Republic's scraps. It's all about that black gold! Empire Rising! Hail to the Eclipse! Sheep's back baby!

Here's a question could the Eclipse's super laser destroy an SSD or would it only severely damage it?

Depends on where it would hit it I think. If I recall, the Eclipse 's super laser was said to be strong enough to crack the crust of a planet. Large or not, the SSD would be in trouble.

Regardless, even if the Eclipse 's super laser doesn't obliterate a SSD, wherever it hit would probably cause such significant damage that the SSD wouldn't be able to fight back and thus would be "destroyed".

It could in Empire at War, Forces of Corruption. It required a recharge time, but yep, every ship was one shot, one kill.

Wasn't the Eclipse introduced in the Dork Empire comics? Boo!!! Boo I say. Such rubbish. A blight on Star Wars, even before the Disney retcon. Whoever thought that story would be a good idea, well, I just hope they were fired LONG before Disney took over.

Well, I'm actually curious. There are a good number of people who have custom SSDs by now. How do they feel in gameplay.

Bleezy , LTJGBeam , can you give us more of a gameplay assessment? Were they too cumbersome to be fun?

Im actually pro-SSD, but I looked... ok, skimmed the first 20 pages and everyone was talking about width and length.

I own the Starship Battles SSD and I have to say ITS BLOODY THIN! The Starship Battles SSD is about as long as Armada's ISD, but the ISD is soooo much thicker. Now if you look at the movie pics, you can see the SSD is thin, but it's overall size makes it still seem so much more impressive. This being the case, if you do scale down the size of an SSD, it will look odd next to an ISD. I think the only was to counteract that would be to put the SSD's width on a different sliding scale than its length, so that it's slightly longer than an ISD and slightly wider, so that it's height isn't such a glaring problem.

In the end, it has to be eyeballed artistically, not mathematically, to give us a pleasing shape to the eye and have the familiar shape.

Here are the Starship Battles SSD and Viscount (rebel counterpart).

Looks ugly.

Both the models are ugly. I have them both and compared them to Armada, and it just doesn't really fit. I've thought about converting the Viscount into a another version of the MC80, either version would work. But the detail just isn't there. I expect FFG to make an epic size Armada by making the SSD the same size as the CR90 they made for X-Wing.

O.K. so not sure if this has been mentioned but why does the Executor have to be a model.

Because this is a minis game.

Sorry I haven't been online lately. Been swamped in Real Life, so haven't had as much free time lately...

We are using an 8 x 4 instead of 6 x 3 to do our games with the SSD, and using a 10 Game Turn length with 600 - 1200 pts, since these are fairly large battles if a SSD is being committed. Their is some discussion on whether the 28 Hull on the version needs to be decreased to 24 - 26 or increased to 30 - 32...

But we don't have enough games yet to really make an informed decision. Some games the SSD has been a beast, and others it has been destroyed after a series of ships were able to concentrate on it and put some serious critical hits on it after a shield was downed. The ENGINEERING DIAL is this ships friend, but if you spam it, well, there are other threads regarding that paradigm...

It can fight on its own, but that just feels un-thematic. Because at speed two it's vulnerable to ships getting behind it, and at the size of games we have played it draws a lot of fire. We will continue to test...

It has been fun so far.
