Super Star Destroyer discussion thread

By Eagle128, in Star Wars: Armada

The holes are actually a bit more mundane than that. It's just a requirement of the printing process for venting when the model is printed and cleaned. The excess material build up and the like needs ports to get flushed through (it's a kind of printing wax used during the printing process, is it not?), so the gaps are necessary on all non-solid models.

Needless to say the model renders look bloody fantastic, Mel! I do wonder how it'll be in that grainy 'WSF' material. Hmm, guess I'll need to do some more commissions and built up some hobby funds for one. Though I still need to finish the last half of my own little SSD/Mod. Bleh.

Can anyone point me to whereever the X-Wing Crossover was discussed? That would be great.

I had really good luck revitalizing the details on my white strong and flexible Venator, by light sanding on large panels, and scraping the grooves between the panels with a dental pick. It may take a week, but I will do the same with that SSD. Hopefully next month.

In my experience models this size dont look bad with a fuzzy material. For example this is WSF:
Nebulon-B%2B608%2B%25288%2Bof%2B15%2529.

25.56 inches long not a bad size.

everytime this thread makes it back to the first page a puppy dies.....

Pointing that out contributes to puppy deaths, then.

It was already on the first page when I posted it

NOT TO FIFTY!!!!!!

So, Mel it's not available in the "good material" yet?

It wont. Its too big for the machine. I would have to slice it in four or five parts.

Ok, nevermind, ive managed it.

I wish someone would buy it and then give it to me, because I want to paint it.

Ugh. 475? Are you going to have coupon-day or anything?

Lord Ashram if things go well I might be getting a Super Star Destroyer and it be sooner than later.

Idea's are flowing thru my head about what I could do for gaming.

It's not set in stone yet but if it happens I might be the only one in my area who'll have one.

Now they just need to develop the rules they can all agree on ;)

Gratz Mel that looks amaze balls, if the cad dollar didnt suck so much right now I would definitely be looking at it closer. Although I do hold hope that ffg, might, might eventually make us one ;) hopefully they would follow your lead and not be any smaller that yours

I do look forward to what kind of rules the community comes up with, having followed this thread from the beginning I think some really good ideas have been put forth. (Sorry truthiness, I actually like this thread :D

Sorry Truthiness this needs to be on page one

LOL

Until some buys one molds it and casts it in resin for $100 or so. its out of my price range, but its a nice bit of work.

Mel, when you get time, could you post some more precise dimensions,

Distance from bow to widest point:

Keyhole locations:

I need to work through some base options, and I need to get a visual of how it will sit on one of my 3 options.

It seems to me rather interesting (given that the real Executor prop was just over 3 times the length of the Devastator prop) that this is just over 3 times the length of the ISD model.

For appropriate level of power in Armada - I'd say this thing needs to be roughly a match for 3 large ships - 3 reasonably tooled up large ships, with a good commander, launching a coordinated attack.

That would fit well with the power ratio between an ISD and 3 Corvettes in this game. Which have the same issue of the "real thing" being about 1/12 the length of the ISD, but the in-game model being about 1/3 the length and 1/3 the combat power.

My thinking is upping "Epic" games to a minimum of 600pts, and giving the SSD a point value between 300-and 400 points, depending on armaments and upgrades.

I agree that the same way the Corellian Corvette is overpowered compared to an ISD, this shouldnt be as powerful as a Super Star Destroyer should be.

After all it should be like having 3 star destroyers on the board. I think it should have two parts (the way the Epic ships in X-Wing do) and if one part is destroyed it should be limited but not cancelled.

Unless you're gonna crash on jakku
