Hit and damage calculation?

By Intys Rule, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

This has always bothered me: Say a player makes a ranged attack, rolls the dice, and ends up with 4 successes and 2 advantages. The weapon is a normal Blaster Rifle with damage of 9, 3 to crit. Does he end up doing 13 damage (9 base + 4 successes) or 12 damage (1 success to "fuel" the hit, then 9 base + 3 successes)? If the player rolled 1 success and no advantage, what would his damage output be?

Thanks!

13 and 10, respectively. A weapon never actually does its base damage.

Sometimes weapons do only their base damage...but never when adding Success :)

But yes, to the OP, all your uncancelled Successes (anything not cancelled by failure) are used to determine damage. So 4 Success with a base damage 9 weapon means 13 damage.

Yeah, I presumed as much. At the very least, it does base + 1 damage.

Looks like I got me some reading to do! :D

Effects that deal a weapon's base damage (at least, of which I am aware):

1. Burn quality

2. Blanket Barrage action (AoR)

3. Improved Parry talent (FaD)

4. OK-98 blaster carbine exploding (from Dangerous Covenants)

And that's all I can think of. So yeah, sometimes! Not often.
