The Dark Mark Plot Card + Condition

By Straangeer, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi Guys!

The Dark Mark Plot Card:

After setup of the first encounter of each quest, the hero players choose a hero and place that hero's hero token on this card.

Exhaust this card when a hero suffers at least 1 heart. That hero suffers no hearts and the hero whose hero token is on this card suffers 2 hearts instead.

At the end of each quest, discard the hero token from this card.

As I interpret it, The Dark Mark happens after dealing damage from an attack, so the Targeted Hero suffers the damage and the condition and after that Overlord can exhaust the Plot Card so the The Targeted Hero suffer no damage and the Marked Hero suffer 2 hearts instead.

Question: What happens with the condition? Is it discarded immediately after the Overlord exhausted the Plot Card? or Will it stay on the targeted Hero?

Do you mean "what if a monster attacks a hero and the attack has surge: poison, but you exhaust Dark Mark, can the attacked hero still get poisoned?

I actually think he can. Even though you are removing the requirement for the hero to suffer the damage, you are not changing the damage dealt by the attack. Just like Jain's hero ability can't prevent conditions, I don't think exhausting Dark Mark does, either.
