So I found a PDF copy of the RPG sourcebook for the Saga Edition
of the Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Wizards of the Coast.

Chapter 2 is thirty pages of "Outlaw Tech"
a huge treasure trove of upgrade and ability ideas.
On top of that I have a copy of the Hayes Owner's manual for
the YT-1300 and I hope to have a list of configurations and optional extras.
I still fail to se where the argument to keep more turrets out of the game is valid?
yeah gameplay is one thing, but im big on the theatrics of it all, the cool large ships being swarmed by smaller ships, those smaller ships ducking and dodging turret fire while trying to come around to make another pass. its all so cool when you visualize what the ships are doing. that's why I love epic battles so much. I want to get a bunch of the guys together and have a truly epic battle with thousands of points on the table.
a new turret, scum or not, is just another weapon in the arsenal of options.

I don't have any problem with more turreted ships - but I'd much rather have a NEW turreted ship than a rehash of an old one
Just based on all the coments on this thread there is a HUGE interest in YT style Scum ships. I would buy a new YT-2000 or any other transport ship and then get some Scum yt-1300/2400's. That woul dbe awesome. Charge like $35 instead of $30 but you get to turn both Yt into scum ships. Take my money now. I like to run 3 YT lists now. Would be cool if I could run three different ships.

Yeah, that sounds AWESOME. I want my Otana, dang it.
any way you look at it, this game is constantly evolving from 1 form to another, I think the large number of potential builds that are out there is going to keep people guessing at tournaments.
I like that a lot, you just don't know what people are going to bring so you need a good all around list to fight everything you can think of. so the more I see the more I like.

also, I would like to add, I like the repurposing of ships.
I now like using the hawk, ywing, even the firespray is more fun now.
so repurposing of a ship, if done well, I think can add to the game and give life to a ship that has been left on the sidelines.
that being said, the yt series are not ships that have been sidelined. they make up a bulk of rebel builds that I have seen, so I can see the skepticism of not giving these ships more love at this time. and I get that new ships are cooler than repurposing an old one. so I would love a repurposed ship and/or welcome new ones, but we havnt had a between wave release since rebel aces, both mid-wave releases were repurposed ships, so why not another one to tie us over until the next wave?

I mean, I wouldn't flip out or *gasp* not buy a Scum YT, but I kind of like the idea of one of S&V's "things" being not having access to a turreted primary large ship. I know it comes off a little hipster, but there it is.
I think I owuld even prefer stuff like the Punishing One to have a turret slot rather than a turret primary. Of course maybe that's also because I really want a range 1-3 turret upgrade (Warthog Horton would be so happy...).

I'm a little busy with some Astrophysics stuff, among other things, but am I correct,

It reads like you want me to convert the format from Rebel to Scum.
My input into this is on the back burner but not withdrawn.
I'm currently finishing up "Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon."
I'm going to go over all the current S&V abilities.
Reread the Owners manual for the YT-1300
and list all the modifications on the MF to remove,
(eg. it has military armor and the antenna is military grade.)
and all the configurations on the Stellar Envoy that are possible.
I also will have to research all the possible characters
associated with the YT-1300 to use.
And I think the trickiest character to make a unique pilot/crew
ability that fits is going to be Lando's loyal sidekick Vuffi Raa.
I'm also going to steal and modify some of these ideas.

With a sufficiently radical paintjob and special pilot abilities designed with the lesser stats in mind, it would play and look VERY different to the Rebel version.
I do expect it to happen, but not for a couple years. They will most likely want to build up scum's identity for a few waves before adding any more crossover ships.
Of course, there is still the issue that the MF title is not Rebel Only. The titles not being faction specific is OK for the Crow and Slave 1, but might be a problem for the most iconic ship ever.

It's not negativity. It's justice. We Scummers are fat and proud of it! Ask any of my Hut or Gamorrean chums.

You can't think of it as turret proliferation at this point. The YT's are already there and giving them to another faction which, quite frankly, have more original provenance to the ships than the rebels do.
The number turret jockey blow-hards we have already wont increase, they'll just move over to the Scum faction where they originally belonged. You can certainly bet that the Scum's wont have access to anything nearly as useful as 3P0, or the Falcon title (it will get errata'd as Rebel only) or get anything like abilities ignoring obstacles so the panic can stop. Giving the Scum the Outrider title is the only thing that I see coming over and without Dash I don't see that being a total game changer in the slightest.

EDIT: On a more serious note, I suppose FFG is monitoring the tournament results, at least to some extent.
Whatever they're trying to do with Scum is currently not working (the Regionals 2015 thread has 6 wins fir Rebels and Imperials, and only 1 for Scum. If the situation doesn't improve 2-3 Waves down the road, I expect Scum to get a fat turret of their own then.
