Scum YT-1300's?

By Ryedub, in X-Wing

So I've seen a lot of talk on these boards about giving scum access to the YT-1300s specifically for some of the azameen family. This has got me thinking more about the Millennium Falcon expansion and there is something very unique about this expansion, the generic YT-1300 has a different stat line than the named pilots.

I along with many others presume this to be that all the named pilots are flying the highly modified Millennium Falcon. would scum pilots also be flying the millennium Falcon? I think not.

So would future YT-1300 really deserve the Falcon's stat line or does it deserve the generic stat line?

Here's the Scum YT-1300 stat line:

In fact I do not wish to see scum 1300s but should it come I think the ship should have the lesser stat line and ffg do something interesting to make me want a 30pointish turret with 2 attack

It has been a very common line of speculation, almost since S&V was first announced, that any scum YT-1300 would have the Outer Rim Smuggler stat line. With a sufficiently radical paintjob and special pilot abilities designed with the lesser stats in mind, it would play and look VERY different to the Rebel version.

I do expect it to happen, but not for a couple years. They will most likely want to build up scum's identity for a few waves before adding any more crossover ships.

Of course, there is still the issue that the MF title is not Rebel Only. The titles not being faction specific is OK for the Crow and Slave 1, but might be a problem for the most iconic ship ever.

but wasn't HAN scum at one time?? and Imperial too for that matter..lol

If we were going to have Scum YT1300s and YT2400s we'd already have them, they'd have been included in Most Wanted.

It might be that FFG wanted to save it up for the YT2000 but somehow I doubt it. It's way too derivative of the Rebel ships to make a good fit with Scum and there's far more recognisable bounty hunter characters who made appearances in the OT who are more likely to make an appearance first.

I'm not saying it will never happen but I wouldn't get your hopes set on a Scum YT much before 2017.

Yes, but when it comes to emotional reactions and impressions that doesn't really matter. Han, Chewie and the Falcon are so cemented in the zeitgeist as rebels that some people would react badly if the Falcon was available as a Scum ship.

Some people always react badly no matter what happens.

YT-1300 aces pack !!!!

half scum, half rebel. 2 dials and cards for both factions. and a new paint job to boot!!!!!!

you know, because the YT-1300 is horrible and needs to be fixed :P :D :(

Correct, however what makes sense from a narrative perspective doesnt always translate into good game design.

Wedge, Biggs and probably half the Rebel fleet came out of the Imperial Academy but I don't expect to see any of them in TIES

Agreed.

I don't think there'd be a prohibitive backlash at all. I also think a Scum Han would be fun. Give his image a makeover by one of those fellows who makes negative political adds.

Besides, yes, Han is a hero, but he's also loved because he's a scoundrel with a shady past. Putting a Scum Han out there highlights that, and I think most people will dig it.

The YT-1300 already was nerfed. Just take Autothrusters.

If you're still having problems Han after that, I don't know what to tell you.

I don't think emotional reactions are going to have anything to do with what FFG decide.

They are far more concerned with the pragmatic issues of giving each faction its own unique identity.

Having Bounty Hunters who work for whomever has cash to pay is one thing, taking the most iconic ships associated with a faction (or highly derived versions thereof like the YT2000) and crossing factions is another entirely.

Especially when there are a multitude of other choices that avoid the conflict.

Never say never but dont your breath.

The main rationale behind re-using pilots in Scum has been to increase their power levels so that the fan favorites become viable . . . Han sees enough use as it is. I have to agree that he is fairly cemented as a Rebel ship, and moreover, a Rebel ship that sees some play. Perhaps we'll see it eventually, but not for a while.

Also . . . nitpick: what do you mean by "zeitgeist?" It means "spirit of the time," that is, something that represents a specific time period, not a faction . . . .

Scum YT-1300s would likely be ORS.

If the Scum get a YT (I personally hope they don't) then it'll probably be the Otana one.

10/10 I would buy. Repainted model - possibly even a modified version - two dials, some Scum pilots, Rebel pilots & Scum generic, Sabra and Selu title cards and some new crew and mods.

Oh, all with the Outer Rim Smuggler stat line, of course.

So you say emotional reactions won't have any effect and then repeat my explanation for why the fan base's emotional reaction might prevent it???

You Azza-meenie! :P

YT-1300 aces pack !!!!

That's the absolute last ship that needs an ace pack. I'd take a TIE phantom acepack before that.

(Think about it... options outside of ACD, more interactive phantoms, might not be a bad thing...)

You're misrepresenting me somewhat.

I'm looking at it from the perspective someone who's brief it might be to build upon the scum faction and help it develop its own identity.

Would that person's best recourse be to make more cross factional ships (like they just did) ?

Or would I they be better served using a highly derived version of another factions ships and bringing it into the new faction?

Or might they put more effort into finding things that are genuinely unique to that faction first?

Doesn't make it too hard when you think about it like that

ORS stat line would be okay but the last thing we need is even more falcon.

forget Han as scum.. I want Han in a shuttle..lol
