Hello. I am playing for the first time, and i am playing as a tech priest. i already have the cybernetics that i get for free, but i wondered how do i get more and what do tehy cost?
How do you gain Cybernetics?
Welcome to the Heresy; enjoy your stay! Your GM, the G ame M aster, will provide the opportunities for you to go "shopping" for your choice of cybernetic. In Dark Heresy, you will roll against an item's "Availability" and you will find the item if you roll under its Availability. The cost of any items should be listed in its respective table in the form of a number that represents the number of "Thrones" the item is worth. Each Career has a minimum Throne income, usually per month, but your GM may provide opportunities for further Thrones. The Core Rulebook should describe these points in more detail.
Your usually vendors in this case are the adeptus mechanicus. No, you will not get cybernetics for free just because you are a tech priest. You get them in return for thrones or actually working for the admech, which you don#t, because you're working for the inquisition.
thank you, for answering me so fast. As i said i am new to it, so i appreciate the help. Thank you very much
You could also petition your master before a mission, and make the case that a certain cybernetic would be SO useful to that mission you feel it would be a sin to NOT get it!
That worked for me at least.
I feel the rules ofr the admech and their sweet mechanical limbs are somewhat constrained and a bit whacky. I would suggest asking your GM to use the two traits on page 40 in the lathe worlds (if you are using the book ofcourse). These allow for an approach to cybernetics and the adeptus mechanicus's way of communication that leans a bit more towards the lore of the w40k universe as a whole. This because using the rules in the core rulebook will end you up with a tech priest who might have little to no augmentations by the time he / she / it hits rank 8, which is just silly
Not really, given he left the admech and is working for the inquisition. Those two bodies don't really get along all too well.
I always thought that the job for the inquisition wass more of a "side job" kinda thing in the sense that you had your normal job (admech / arbites / etc) and then you get called once in a while to do a job for the inquisition?
I have a pretty good GM who has played getting cybernetics as more of a political task. Being that the AD-MECH is the controlling group for such items, it was played that a PC would have to increase their standing with members of the AD-MECH to receive such gifts. This would be done by helping certain NPCs. Alternatively, if your PC knows someone, there is a thriving underhive where there is bound to be one or more heretechs who will happily "help" the PC by installing "high-quality" products.
If your "handler" has any clout which as his job of running a group they should, they should be able to get some of the tech you need, role play it with them using the availability of items requested as a guide.
