Heavy Scyk squad

By Zazaa, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Here is one squad I want to try out in next game session. Let me know what you think of it?

Serissu(20)

-Squad Leader(2)

Cartel Spacer x3(42)

-Heavy Laser Cannon(21)

-Stealth Device (9)

Totall of 100p

Serissu's skill gives rest of the formation one defence die reroll and it might be useful with the Stealt Devices. As well Squad Leader gives one free action.

I've found in my limited experience that Scyks can die way to fast to put HLC's on all of them. It's just too expensive. I'd rather see Serrissu w/ 4 Hvy Scyks with Ion Cannons. Once you start ionizing their list, you can start getting into their flanks and avoid their shots.

I have never thought that can you stack Ion tokens for enemy? Let's say that I would have four Scyks with Ion Cannon and they all hit the same ship, would that ship get four ion tokens and would be ionized next four rounds as well?

Nope. You can have 5 Ion tokens on a single ship, after it does it's 1 forward, you remove all Ion tokens.

An all Heavy Syck List with Ions is a bad idea. You won't be able to pump out enough damage to really take advantage of the Ion'd ship. Maybe 1 Syck with an Ion and the rest with HLCs or Manglers.

Serissu isn't doing anything but getting shot first in your list, you might as well replace her with another Heavy Scyk. Dropping the HLC down to a Mangler and getting rid of the Stealth Device lets you fit in a fifth Scyk with a Mangler.

Overall Squad Leader seems to be a poor choice on Serissu since she'll need he actions to stay alive since she will likely be the priority target.

I'm not sure on this. If you face a large ship list, you can basically insure where it is going to be each turn. That helps a lot. If you can get within R1 (which should be easy) then you can pump 3 red dice into it with regular attacks. So, spend 2 shots each round ionizing it and then fire away with your regular shots.

Against something like a BBBBZ, would think it would do well. You can Ionize each B wing pretty easy each round and just get out of it's firing arc. From that point on, you can destroy the Z and then fire regular shots with the extra.

The idea is that if you can get 5 Ionized shots a turn, you can control the game pretty well. The Scyk is pretty fast and maneuverable. You should be able to take full advantage of good movement and control of your enemy pretty well.

If you faced a 2 Falcon build you could just Ionize them both off the board!

The issue here is the falcons have turrets and the scyks have the health of a tie fighter, so while you can control them, there's a big risk of just losing too many ships too fast.

You could sit at R3 and try to ionize the Falcon, but I hear you. I guess I just don't face many Falcons with my local players (thankfully). It almost seems like a different game when you have to adjust your lists to always play vs. Falcons or Phantoms. We mostly play casual games.
