Legal Maps

By KennedyHawk2, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Just had a twitter back and forth with @FFGOP to figure out which maps are legal for tournament events. This should end the debate on whats legal on release as the skirmish document states.

It seems figures deployment cards and command cards in ally packs are legal upon release. The maps for a given season will be held to the maps listed in the legal maps section. Just having the packs releaed without an update to this section does not make them legal at premier level (regionals and above) events.

KennedyHawk - For Adepticon will just Skirmish maps from the Imperial Assault core be legal or should we prepare sets of tiles for ally packs?

KennedyHawk - Trying to organize the maps in baggies to minimize set up time between rounds. Thanks!

@FFGOP - We'll be following the tournament rules, so just the three maps from the core set. https:// images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/c 2/c5/c2c55d33-6c4f-4dd7-881a-97ffe584daf7/swi-tournament-rules.pdf

@FFGOP - However, Ally and Villain Pack components (figures, cards, etc.) will be legal. :)

KennedyHawk - Ok thanks! Wasn't sure if the "Imperial Assault Products are legal upon release" included maps in the ally packs or not.

@FFGOP - They're legal for casual events at your local store, but any competitive or premier events must use only the maps listed.

@FFGOP - Thanks for double checking!

Thanks, it's good to get clarification.

So I don't need to scan any more maps for anyone... Yet.

I will though, as soon as I get them.

I expect that after the Adepticon tournament we will see an updated FAQ and tourney rules. FFG should have more experience and know the questions and issues and address them before it is regional season.

I am hopeful that they will add the expansion maps to the list of legal maps. I have looked over each and played a couple, and find them much more interesting then those in the core set. Several of them are very dynamic, and see to force you into positions to fight rather than have you make a break for the objectives and only kill here/there as needed.
