If I double on a 2nd MW pack what else should I get, (The Y-conundrum)

Just to let everyone know this won't happen till after I pick up the Raider.

So if you look at my signature I already have 2 Y-wing packs. I already know if I pick up another MW pack I might as well pick up a second HWK-290 and a 2nd Slave-1 pack.

So here is my debate should I pick up a 3rd Y-wing.

Reasoning- I already Have 2 Y-wings and with 2 MW packs I know I will have enough to have 4 Scum-wings. Since the competitive rules have changed for dials I am also sure I could run 2 Gold and 2 Greys easily. However there is enough tiles for an extra Y-wing so my reasoning with 3 Y-wing packs and 2 MW packs I should easily have enough components to easily field 5 Y-wings or Scum-wings (3 gold and 2 Grey or 3 Thugs and 2 Guns).

So what do you think. What is the easiest way to have 5 Y-wings for both S&V and Rebels or should I just stop with 2 of each?

2 each is the way to go because at base cost this is an 18 point ship that only throws 2 dice so you'll want to spend some points on a turret to have more dice to throw. Currently I had a list with 4 y-wings each 25 points a piece after upgrades. I just traded my y-wings off though. Just for the points cost of a y-wing you'd be better off running a different ship if your going for a swarm.

Yes I would probibly also get another 2 Z=95 Headhunter so I can have both Z-swarms. The 4 Bynree & 4 Black Sun along with the 4 Bandit & 4 Talas.

I thought the thug life list was Syndicate Thugs with R4 and Ion turrets with the A4 title.

The list I played against was as Thug as can be with 5 Y's, and it was quite terrifying actually.

Okay looking into the tiles for Y-wings and headhunters you get 3 tiles for each ship. So with 2 MW packs the most scum you can get (assuming you have extra Y-wing and Z-95 models from the rebel side) are 6 Scum-wings and and 6 ScumZies and that is with 2 Y-wing and 2 Z-95 Headhunter expansions.

On the flip side the most you can have on the rebel side is 4 Y-wings and 4 Z-95 headhunters without buying additional packs.

I'm also trying to solve the Z-95 thing but I think for best a S&V swarm would be the easiest and that would be at-least 3 MW packs and 2 Headhunters packs (assuming you don't go full on 4 MW packs) For rebels to get 8 you would need atleast 4 Z-95 packs and 2 MW packs (assuming you don't go full 8 Z-95).

or wait for the "Bomber" expansion pack that has a Y and a Tie.... :P

I ended up getting 2 of each. Mostly for the cards. I'm not going to get nearly as much S&V as I have Rebels and Imperial.

I'm trying to figure out what to do for the Z-95's. I was excited when I could use Rebel dials, but I still need the official Pilot card. That means I either have to buy more or put some as the more expensive versions of the Z-95. That doesn't work in my Xizor w/ 5 Z-95 Pirates. I don't have the points!

I should probably find someone local that wants the other Y-wing, Firespray, and/or HWK dials and split the costs. I really just want the Pirate cards and minis. Well, would be nice to have some Illicits to go with it.

There was someone who played 5x Gold + Autoblaster Turret at a Store Championship with 30+ players I recently attended. I was pretty curious about how he'd do, since he had a mixed set of prize acrylic templates (World Championship sets, 2013 and 2014, but I could be mistaken). He got a first round bye. All of his actual matches went to time (75 minutes): 50-40 win, 58-20 win, 76-80 loss. He didn't make the top 8, unfortunately. I think only 2 other matches went to time during the whole tournament, leading me to think that it's not a very competitive squad, and possibly frustrating to play and play against.

EDIT: I've figured out who it was. I'm sure we'll see him at our Regionals and I expect him to do well there.

Leading me to think that it's not a very competitive squad, and possibly frustrating to play and play against.

Like most lists, it'll have some good match ups and some bad. 10-15 attack dice is not bad, though. 40 hit points is just insane, even if it's only sat behind 1 defence dice. I can see it causing big problems for 2-3 ship builds who simply don't have the number of dice to take it down, but 4 x 3 attack dice lists and swarms will hit it hard.

It'll certainly be an absolute pain to battle in a timed environment.
