Don't put Boba Fett on the box if Boba Fett is not in the box.

By TylerTT, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

And if all the minis were in the box to start, then the same people would be moaning about the cost.

All the best.

Richard

Funny that you say that, the basegame is more expensive than Descent 2nd Edition ($20 difference) yet it includes about the same amount of components (I fact, I believe Descent 2nd edition included more actual miniatures). I don't think having those tokens replaced by actual miniatures really ups the production price by that much.

Edit: Yep 34 miniatures in case of SW:IA, 39 in case of Descent 2nd edition.

Less is more right? Now hand over your cash.

Oh NO!!!!! There's a BIG spaceship on the front of the box as well......

There should be a mini of that in the box as well.

I don't have Descent, so I cannot respond to that one as to the amount of minis etc.

Richard

Good Grief!!!! Goes into mock shock....... R2D2 is clearly shown on the side of the box, put the mini in the box.

Yes, it is getting VERY silly now, and yes, I'm taking the mickey, but it goes to show how some people think.

I see the exapansion, do I want it? Yes. Do I have to have it or the world will end? No.

I'll wait or a price to appear and then decide wether I get it or not.

All the best.

IA does have the AT-ST, but the other figures are all small in size.

D2e has a bunch of bigger monsters: 2 ettins, 2 elementals, 2 meriods and 2 shadow dragons.

Think of all the plastic that went into this:

Yes, the production cost would have skyrocketed if they were to include actual miniatures instead of tokens (eyeroll).

Many thanks for the list, but a I said. If I don't have a game I don't thik it is right for me to say somethig as it could be totally wrong.

I am in the Mission Supply Store at Madang, New Guinea, and recently the senior pilot with the Christian and Missionary Alliance told me something that gave me pause — and stirred our store into sudden action. The natives around Lake Archbold are unashamedly cannibals and, he reported, they are now convinced that the missionaries are cannibals, too, on evidence observed in missionary homes. They have seen tins with a picture of a fish on the label and, sure enough, the tin contains fish. Likewise a tin of green peas has a label showing peas, and a picture of tomatoes on a tin invariably means tomatoes.

The tinned-goods firm that supplies us has been advised that it must find some means of convincing the natives that its baby food is made for babies and not of babies.

In America, a Chinese family bought a can of what they believed — because of the picture on the label — to be fried chicken. They were surprised and disappointed to open it and learn the can contained only the shortening used for cooking fried chicken.

Nice minis, and the only thing I would ask is?

If the game only had tokens instead of minis, could you still play the game?

It's a standard question I would ask of any minis game.

Plus if you lost a mini, would you buy a new box of Descent again? I doubt it. The cost would be prohibitive.

Could, yes. Would, no. Also, heh, a miniatures game without miniatures? Sounds like IA: Third Edition.

Richard

I've never lost a mini so no idea. Some people sell individual minis online so that's probably the answer then.

And this is why I like the way this is being done. You get a base set of minis, plus additional tokens for those minis that are not currently available.

When the extra minis appear, you can make the coice of wether to buy or not.

When IA came out, it didn't have the packs that have launched today in the UK, so you just had to play with what you had.

Now, do I need all the minis at thi point in time, nope!!!

I got Han and Chewbacca as they are main charcters, now, tomorrow I may get 2 more figures, but do I need Weis? Not at this time, but I can get him later.

Will the world end tommorrow if I don't have a little piece of plastic shaped into a certain form? No.

Are more important things happening in the world? Yes.

WIll anything world shattering happen if I don't have a figure to play a game (Yes, it's just a game, not real life)? No.

In the end, board games are insignificent in the way of the world. They can be enjoyable, they can be a great way of getting people together, but...... look out the window, there is a real world outside and you may have family, that is far more important than any piece of plastic and cardboard.

I think you should donate money to a good cause instead of spending it on overpriced boardgames. At least you would be contributing to help the world then.

Interesting? Lost the arguemnt due to the points made?

Interesting? Lost the arguemnt due to the points made?

All the best.

Richard

Not really.

Also, what points?

As stated previously,

The point is that there are some of us who would've liked to have seen a little more included with the bigger boxed expansion. We didn't get it, we came here to the website of the company to voice our disappointment in the hopes that maybe they'll include a little more with the next one.

And that shows why you lost all the points I have previously mentioned.

Never mind, I will leave it to people to make their own minds up.

Buy it or don't buy it due to someones silly point about a figure not being in and it should be due to art work. Make your own mind up folks.

It's just a game and some people seem to think it's reality. LOL>

All the best.

Richard

Eight pages on this topic? Seriously, guys? It's obvious that nobody is going to convince anyone to change their mind on this topic. Courtesy of xkcd No. 386.

This is for both sides, neither of which can allow the other to have the last word.

This is awesome and worth reposting, btw.

Gridash, why bother?

You're going toe-to-toe with the person who went on a hyperbole tirade that took up half (or more) of the 9th page of the thread. Not exactly sure what you're hoping to get out of engaging the person. I already killed their points - which I can only assume drove them to said tirade - so it's a moot point, anyway.

The individual is looking to sling mud and ruin the discussion, I wouldn't bother helping them.

They've obviously done a great job at advertising, you all know a Boba figure isn't in one box, it's in another. Rules for Fett are provided in both boxes. Tournament players are an extreme, extreme minority (and apparently quite vocal), plus, when FFG goes away, there won't be anymore official tournaments *and* the box alone will still have a playable Boba Fett. You can go start a complaint in the tournament forums if you want. I think you tournament guys do have a quite the legitimate argument with how much you need to shell out to maintain a competitive collection.

Some of us want to be able to buy a meal without dessert, others want an in inclusive 3 course meal. You fall into the second category, which is fine. Don't buy the expansion. Personally, I'm glad that they included dessert separately so I can choose whether I want it or not.

I agree that paganeagle2001 has been on a hyperbole tirade, but so has Gridash. It's really just been a battle of hyperbole between those two, which is why I haven't been responding to either one of them.

Some people are like little children, rolling on the floor and having a tantrum because they can't have the latest toy.

Just because you want something, does not mean you are going to get it.

Either buy the expansion or not, I doubt it will make any differnece to anyone else, especially the company.

I was just trying to get my point across, but I think I got a bit carried away so sorry about that.

I'll just ignore paganeagle.

People need a Gibbs-slap in here. VERY simple solution to you people complaining about this is for you to not buy the expansion. Period. Just buy the **** single pack of Fett separately. Then everything you need to add him to your core game set is bought as it looks like the TS expansion comes with 1/2 or so of the stuff the Fett single comes with.

Then you can suck it up and buy the **** TS expansion anyway for the other stuff from it like the heroes, Stormtroopers, etc..

You people are bitching about $10 for a complete Fett set that will probably be released right with the TS expansion at the same time. Pathetic. If this is so detrimenta to your enjoyment of the game, perhaps you should stop playing. Think of the 10's of dollars you'll be saving!

I really hope FFG folks reading this thread are laughing. If they take you people seriously, this game is over in a year.

Those that cannot discuss, ignore, those that can, continue to do so.

All the best.
