So Vader's card says TIE Advnaced X1. The Title says TIE/x1. I'm buying the raider so this isn't about not spending the money but does anyone else find it just a little agitating that this card should even be necessary for the man in black? They won't add anything to the errata about it but if you are going to say that is the ship he is in that should be the ship he is in. They didn't print Millennium Falcon on Han's card. Ha I know this probably seems a little petty but if there was a character to get petty about in star wars it is probably Darth "mother f'ing (ha quite literally to some characters) Vader. Vader doesn't take the title, gets the effect, drop the mic.
Darth Vader and TIE/x1
I thought about this before we even knew about the X1 Title. I imagine it will be FAQed soon enough.
This again...

Sorry, couldn't find the rage room for it. Again it isn't about buying the model it just seems to lack continuity.

Hey! You forgot to drop the mic! ![]()

Why are we expecting a FAQ like... right now for something that's still months away?
Why are we expecting a FAQ like... right now for something that's still months away?
Because it's an issue that could be clarified by now. There's no reason not to do it
What dial does he use?
Yeah.
Psst, ship type icons exist for a reason perhaps? It's a secret to everyone.
Darth Vader is flying a TIE Advanced/x1 whether or not he takes the title. But Darth Vader does not have access to the rules package included with the TIE/x1 title unless he has the title equipped.
This is not a difficult conclusion to reach, and I don't see a particular need to include it in the FAQ any more than you need to include the fact that Han Solo can't evade without the Millennium Falcon title.
He uses a tie advanced dial so he's eligible to use the title it's that simple, there's zero confusion here.
This is really, really annoying.
If he's flying the /X1 right now, we should feel free to take a free Accuracy Corrector on him right now.
(Do not take me seriously)
What dial does he use?
Yeah.
This guy

and this guy don't seem to get the point. I didn't say I was confused, nor was I trying to say he has a different dial or that I somehow got a different ship in my pack. The point was that while I can respect the hat tip, it seems silly to have done it this way. Hindsight is 20/20 I know.

This is not even the same thing. If Solo had Millennium Falcon printed in place of YT-1300 it would be. If Fett had Slave 1 on his it would be the same. Your argument is invalid.
I really have no idea what the purpose is. I'm not being snarky in the slightest, I just don't understand. Are you saying that Darth Vader should automatically be able to have the benefits of the title without the card? If that's the case then I do see a problem that can quickly escalate from the normal to the absurd.
Possible: oh, yeah, I'm fielding Emon with 3 Proton Bombs. I know I have only one card, but that doesn't matter, we know what it does.
Less Possible: oh, I don't own a HWK-290 or rebel Y-Wings, but I'm paying the points for ion turrets on my scum Y-Wings, I know what they do, trust me.
A Little Absurd: no, x upgrade hasn't been released yet, but I saw it spoiled so I'm going to play with it
NOTE: IMHO all of the above are perfectly fine in friendly games where the opponent has no problem
Totally Absurd: yeah, there's a new title coming out that gives my Lambda a Tie Interceptor dial. Trust me.
Why even open the door for that guy?
On the other hand, if this is just kvetching about an inconsistency, I really can't help you. Except to say that Vader was one of the very first ships released, and it came out a full year before the system slot entered the game with wave 3.
There's no reason not to do it
FFG doesn't answer rules questions let alone publish FAQ's about unreleased products. They do this if for no other reason then the preview stuff we see isn't always the final version.
I was always more angry that by labeling Vader's advanced the x/1 that they'll never print an Avenger.
Are you saying that Darth Vader should automatically be able to have the benefits of the title without the card?
Yes. I'm not necessarily saying right this second as this ship has not been released yet but I think it would be appropriate.

This was pretty much it. I like consistency. I love the game but FFG seems to wobble a bit on a consistent product. PS8 pilots with no EPT, mini quality, this Vader thing, and I dunno a little continuity would go a long way. I'm sure FFG reads these forums to a certain extent and if no one ever said something was wrong/silly how would they know to do/not do something in the future? Just my two cents.

No. The moment you make that little bit of flavor important, you literally take Vader out of the game, because he no longer has a dial. Either that x1 of Vader's card is either a fun bit of flavor, or it has game impact. Complicating the game just because "it's Vader" is stupid.
The reason why there are issues is because the original designer never really put much thought into this game as a tournament game. Which is why the rulebook and a lot of the early cards have issues when it comes to the rules.
I think we discussed this one to death, but yes, Vader can take the title.

It isn't because he's Vader. It's that his ship is titled the way it is. The exception should be in the way they printed the ship, not for the pilot. I get that it probably won't happen and that it is going to be their way of building gross. This will get a FAQ or an errata entry when it is released. And you never know, maybe they'll go Z95 dial on us and surprise everyone.

"Because he already has 'x1' in his ship name, Darth Vader cannot take the x1 title upgrade card nor receive that card's benefits."
Oh man, the drama that would ensue.
