last session, my group claimed salvage to a ship they found in deep space. it's larger than the one they have, so they've going to use it and have sold their old one. they need to get it supplied, but I have no idea how much to charge for food per day. help please
cost of food per day
Did they sell the food on the old ship too?
Really, just pick a number that seems to make sense to you based on where they are. A lot depends on your campaign's economy.
In my games, the players very seldom have more than 1,000 or 2,000 credits for very long. If they get a big payday, they buy some things but then they get hit with docking fees, repair fees, etc. If the players have a lot of disposable income, I'd pick a number, otherwise I just wouldn't worry about it.
I wouldn't eat ANYTHING found on an old derelict space ship.
Haven't they watched any sci-f shows? that just leads to bad stuff happening.
Edit - Oh wait... they need to replenish. Duh.

(Average food cost per month for 1 person is ~ $300. Also depends on how well they eat, how fresh they eat, how often they restock, and where they buy their food. If they're all higher end pre-packaged it could easily run to a thousand a person.)
they didn't sell their food, but only had 3 days left. they did get a good payday. the personnel sold it was a trade, and rolled 1success, 5 advantage and a triumph, so they got most of blue book value. 125k. im trying to whittle down some of they money, and they need to buy 6 months of food. im thinking about 10k for it.

That sounds reasonable.
I'd ask them how nice of food they want. They've got 125k burning a whole in their pocket - it might be time to stock up on champagne and caviar.
I know at least some players who'd do it.
