Armada tournaments?

By clontroper5, in Star Wars: Armada

the local stores i play at claim that they have already ordered the tournament pack for armada, Which is awesome :)

and i have recently heard that there will even be a regional sized tournament

is this true? or is the regional tournament just rumors

does anyone have info and a link perhaps?

I was wondering about this as well. So far I can't find anything about any upcoming Armada Tournaments.

My LGS has acquired the spring tournament kit that was announced a few months back to use at our bi-weekly league night.

I'm guessing that there won't be a regional tournament since regional locations and dates were announced a few days ago and Armada wasn't on the list.

I would be surprised if there weren't any armada events at gencon in August though.

It may just end up being an ad hoc kind of year for tournaments at the local/store championship level, especially considering that it could be nearly May when we see all of wave one released. Also, now may be as good a time as ever to plug Cobalt's thread to to get more people interested in local Armada groups to facilitate the organization of competitve play at a local level sooner rather than later.

Small unofficial tournaments could be great for getting people involved! ^_^

My FLGS owner tells me that he ordered it. I suppose we'll know if that worked if/when it comes in. I'm pretty psyched about it, though I hope that they don't schedule a tournament when I can't make it.

At about 2 hours per game you should only get 4-5 games of Swiss+MoV and no Top Cuts.

It will also be interesting to see how the Tournys run the rounds...strait up death match? Scenarios (and which ones)? And which Fleet/Faction would these setups benefit.

Given that bringing your own objectives is part of fleet building, and the trade-off between point build, initiative and objective selection is built into the balance of the game, I can't see any reason why tournaments would do anything other than follow the normal rules regarding objectives.

Thank you for your refreshing logic.
