Mauler Mithel has 2 basic attack dice

His special ability allows an extra attack dice at range 1

Everyone gets an extra attack dice range 1, so therefore if Mithel

Attacks at range 1 does he now get 4 attacks or only 3 ?????

He gets 4. One from his ability and one from the Primary Weapon Range Bonus.

Yes - Mauler gets an additional attack dice on top of the range 1 attack bonus - so 4 red dice.

Enjoy!

You could even find ways to give him an additional die.
