Rebel Stress List thoughts

By MrSelfdestruct22, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I'm playing around with a list to maximise stress, and then hopefully capitalize on it. So far I'm enjoying this:

A:

Horton Btl-a4, R3-A2, Ion turret

Porkins R5-D8, PtL, Flechette Torpedo

Eaden Vrill Tactician

I like it in theory but it seems like I can load on stress to the enemy, take stressful maneuvers on Porkins and deal with them, buff Eaden's 360 primary attack, but can I kill enough with them? Porkins used properly is fairly dangerous, and I think the other two work well, but is it sufficient? In a single turn of shooting I can load up to 4 stress on a single ship, or stress 3 ships separately but after tactician is no longer in range 2 and the torpedo is spent can I keep up the pressure or is this more of a glass cannon?

I love the Btl-A4/R3-A2 combo, I'd like to get someone near him with 'Wingman' to help manage that stress however leading me to:

B:

Horton Btl-A4, R3-A2, Ion Turret

Dutch R2-D6, Flechette Torpedo x2, Wingman, Munitions Failsafe

Wild Space Fringer, Flechette Cannon, Tactician, Hull Upgrade

Part of me likes this better, but again, I can stress the stuffing out of a single ship more reliably and more often, but is it enough?

Instead of the Fringer should I spend that 37 points on a hammer unit that will actually destroy a ship? Corran Horn, Wedge, Ten Numb, or possibly 3 Bandits? I'd love some input from anyone who has had more experience running this sort of list. Thanks!

Horton's doing about the same amount of work as a Gold Squadron pilot for a crapton more points

I have less than zero faith in R5-D8 and anything that requires a crappy green die roll to work

Vrill is cool

If you want to load on stress, the most efficient way is through generics (least amount of points) with a R3-A2 (generally a gold squadron ICT Y-wing, no title needed) and Tacticians (blue squadron with the b/e mod).

If you want characters to load stress with a greater guarantee than low PS generics, I'd recommend either Miss Dantels (deadeye, flechette torps, munition failsafes) or Stress Luke (V.I, R3-A2, Engine).

If you want to keep the non-Dash YT-2400, best way seems to be Int Agent + Offensive cannon paired with other ships that can abuse the hell out of the Int Agent (B-wings and A-wings). You can fit a Mangler, Intelligence Agent Fringer with two Tactician Blues and a Prototype A-wing in the same list. Alternatively, Vrill with Tactician slots right in but you don't get the Int agent to enable the rest of the squadron.
