New Preview

I think the real question is how many of each will be in the box?

My guess is three raiders and four troopers

Probably 3 and 3.
You can see the reinforcement number on both the trooper (3) and Tusken being (2) so I think it will be 2 troopers and 3 tuskens

So from this page: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/star-wars-imperial-assault/products/twin-shadows/

We get "With ten sculpted plastic figures, twelve double-sided map tiles, and over sixty new cards" so after the 2 heroes you're left with 8 baddies. So either we get one set of Heavy Stormtroopers and 2x Tusken Raiders or I think more likely we're going to get 2 sets each and they all are in sets of 2.

Remember all, we are talking about the new expansions.

You're right, my bad for my part in derailing the thread...

Myself I'm very excited about the new stuff coming out. Still haven't finished the campaign in the box, and will quite possibly have this one one to play either before I do, or shortly after at the rate I'm going. :)

Also, did anyone notice they edited the page? It says six missions now, instead of four. Maybe they were forgetting to account for the red hero side missions originally.

Aye, It's looking like this to me:

1x Biv Bodhrik miniature (Hero)
1x Saska Teft miniature (Hero)
4x Tusken Raider miniatures (1x Elite card,1x Regular Card)
4x Heavy Stormtrooper miniatures (1x Elite card,1x Regular Card)

Their LCG all seem to be on par for other games of that nature, such as MtG.

Not even close. You can keep up with three or four LCGs for what it costs to stay competitive in Magic.

Not a single bit of information in these previews left me feeling let down.

It's all really exciting.

I'm a little disappointed at the lack of content coming in the EXPANSION. Only six missions leads me to believe there are not a lot of tiles coming. That means 6 campaign missions and only two new skirmishes from the new EXPANSION. I was kinda hoping for a dozen campagin missions and three or four skirmish, but I suppose we'll have to see what the cost of this is. I'm sincerely hoping this isn't in the $30-$40 range for ten miniatures, twelve cardboard tiles and a bunch of tokens.

I just want everyone to ponder this for a moment:

Vader... slaughtering Tusken Raiders... in IA!

It did say mini-campaign after all. Perhaps there will be larger expansions later.

Great stuff overall. The one that caught my eye the most for skirmish play is Jump Jets! Played at the right time it could be huge. I'm warming up to the new heroes and villains and not only movie named characters. Since the legends stuff has all been discounted, basically, it's nice to get some new stuff that doesn't follow any preconceived ideas about the characters. I'm a skirmish guy, but there looks to be a lot for campaign too. I'm glad Boba Fett is not the uber-beast in the game and Vader seems to still be the one to beat. We will see when all the stats are revealed though. So much to digest...

For those at work:

"Investigate a growing Imperial presence in Twin Shadows, a new expansion for Imperial Assault! New dangers lurk in every shadow and darkened alley on Tatooine, home of bounty hunters and galactic scum. To make matters worse, Han Solo has disappeared while on assignment in Mos Eisley. Now, a crack team of elite Rebel operatives launches their investigation to uncover the truth behind the Imperial plot.
This expansion offers new content for both the campaign game and the skirmish game. You can play a fully formed mini-campaign that challenges your Rebel heroes to rush to Han Solo's aid or battle through a Mos Eisley cantina in the skirmish game. Two new heroes join the forces of the Rebel Alliance, but Heavy Stormtroopers and Tusken Raiders fight for the forces of the Empire. With ten sculpted plastic figures, twelve double-sided map tiles, and over sixty new cards, Twin Shadows brings new levels of danger and skulduggery to every Imperial Assault game."

So, they say it's a mini-campaign already. Looks like the bigger boxes will have the heftier campaigns afterall if they indeed go the Decent route (which they've stated they will).

Is it me or is that Mara Jade as the picture on the skirmish card on Kayn Somos' pack?

Someone at BGG just pointed this out, if it is I'm going to be so hoping for a Mara Jade figure at some point.

It kinda makes sense too, we know she was on Tatooine when Luke was although that was more RotJ then post New Hope...

See if you can find the book "Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina". She was there right after Luke and Ben hired Han to fly them to Alderaan.

Now that I think of it, I may be remembering "Tales from Jabba's Palace", which would be RotJ not New Hope. Sorry, I can't keep my EU straight.

I dont think there will be a Mara Jade since she no longer exists since Disney moved the EU under the legends banner.

If you use descent as guide, this is one of the larger expansions. There are also $60 expansions for Descent though, so room for a larger campaign.

A friend at the show sent me a picture of the figures, C3PO and R2-D2 are separate figures.

I think it's safe to say FFG make games that have a bit of premium to the cost.

But they produce high quality stuff that I find to be well worth what they're asking for.

Don't get me wrong, as I said I own more FFG games than any other publisher. They cost a bit more but they have more componenets and are made to a high quality. I've never once thought 'this isn't money well spent' when buying from FFG.

Yup, it's definitely going down the Descent route. Small box expansions with a mini campaign that can be played as side missions while introducing two new heroes, two new mobs, a new status, new Imperial Class and some new tiles. Then in between the small box expansions we will have big box expansions with a full fledged campaign and more units and heroes.

You will be disappointed then as I believe it will be $40, or about £25-28 for us Brits.

Perhaps the big box expansions will be more to your liken. I suspect the first of which will be announced just as this small box gets released.

I must say that I also like that they've added the Tusken Raiders asap for use with Luke's Raiding Party skirmish mission and have enough of them to do it. I appreciate the heads up on that.

I wish it was 4 new story missions that linked together that could act as a new campaign and we could use the old side mission in the middle.

I'm sure that would be straight forward to house rule if the rules for the mini campaign don't already include it. It wouldn't surprise me if the mini campaign did include rules for this already in place.

Either way can we all say Hoth for the next, presumably big box, expansion?

Either way can we all say Hoth for the next, presumably big box, expansion?

That sounds reasonable.

Wompas, maybe a hero on a TaunTaun, maybe some Talz...

I think the hardest part of a Hoth expansion is the (almost literal) elephant in the room - AT-ATs!

An Endor expansion could be possible too.

Ewoks, Scout troopers, Rebel Commandos...

But, my number one guess?

Cloud City.

Leia and Lando as allies, Dengar and Bossk as scum (maybe some uggnaughts), and some Imperial Moff as the villain. The campaign? Retake Bespin after Lando & Co leave, possibly happening in parts simultaneously with the movie.

AT-AT could happen. they make huge figures for x-wing already. and at the end of the day an AT-AT is mostly legs.

I think we could definitely see the first big expansion stay on Tatooine. Lots of opportunity to expand the Scum and Villainy side of things, big beastie is obvious, delve deeper in to the Hutt side of things etc.

Then the next mini expansion could be leading in to the next theatre (would bank on Hoth at that point).

Yeah. That means that for Canada it's likely to end up somewhere ridiculous like in the $50-$60 range which I find unacceptable... Especially when considering there are plenty of quality games out there with tons of replay value that can be purchased for the same price as this 'mini-expansion' which can't be played on it's own.

It certainly doesn't constitute half the value of what you get in the core box that comes in at just about twice the price.

Has anyone else notice the icon next to R2-D2's name?

I wonder if C-3PO will have one next to his as well. Maybe some sort of a team bonus . . .

Then I guess it's not for you? As a Canadian as well I know that the markup is a little rough, but I also know that I'm going to get enormously more value out of it than, say a crappy family meal at Boston Pizza for the same price. Are there other games with better value? Maybe, but they aren't games that will get my buddies together to play like IA has, so they have 0 value to me.

All of this is so SEXY.

It's similar to the Icon on the other cards marking them as part of this expansion, but not exactly alike. That may be a result of the early preview graphics though.
